Requirements
  • Certification of practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical experience, including one year of experience in quality improvement, safety management, or infection control.
  • A minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written materials, write clearly and concisely, communicate effectively one-on-one or in small groups, and make formal presentations to groups.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled instructions, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Competency in interpersonal communication, verbal and written communication, Medicare and regulatory and credentialing criteria and standards, safety standards, spread of organisms, and adult learning.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • Ability to operate basic office machines and equipment.
  • Ability to assess and visually present data using run charts, flow charts, scatter diagrams, control charts, histograms, and decision matrices.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle stress, and maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including occasionally lifting or moving patients of varying weight.
Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with healthcare activities, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and medication administration as necessary.
  • Supervise nursing staff, laboratory personnel, and X-ray technicians.
  • Develop and implement training, disciplinary, and personnel evaluation activities for nursing staff.
  • Facilitate staff education and in-service training in safety, infection control, Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, tuberculosis control, and performance improvement.
  • Conduct and review annual cardiopulmonary resuscitation verifications.
  • Participate in long-range planning for the medical center, independently plan and manage the nursing program, and review nursing activities, problems, and functions with the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Participate in the health center’s quality assessment and improvement activities.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly exam rooms, nurses’ stations, equipment, and other work areas.
  • Plan and set work standards, counsel and discipline staff according to policy, and address sensitive or volatile situations involving staff, contracted employees, patients and families, physicians, or others.
  • Track, analyze, quantify, and compare safety, infection, and quality data, and oversee infection surveillance for staff, patients, and caregivers.
  • Maintain policies and procedures in compliance with state, federal, Medicare, and credentialing standards and criteria.
  • Perform credentialing activities for permanent and temporary nursing employees and ensure current licensure and continuing education.
  • Initiate and participate in in-house and in-service staff education.
  • Carry out procedures for basic life support, fire, disaster, and infection control.
  • Follow Laboratory, X-ray, and Medical Acts policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Occupational Safety and Health Administration infection control and safety training and follow related policies and procedures.
  • Provide other necessary duties assigned by the Chief Medical Officer or Nursing Supervisor to support primary healthcare services.
