Panel Fabrication Technician
About the job
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- One to three years of documented experience building industrial electrical control panels or complex assemblies is required.
- Expert use of multimeters, torque wrenches, crimpers, and wire strippers is required.
- Ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and Bills of Materials is required.
- Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods and lift components weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
- High manual dexterity for intricate wiring and component assembly is required.
- Read electrical schematics and panel layouts to determine exact component placement.
- Mount programmable logic controllers, relays, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, and power supplies into enclosures.
- Perform point-to-point wiring with neat routing, correct color-coding, and secure connections.
- Use power tools, punches, and saws to modify enclosures and mounting plates.
- Conduct continuity checks and power-up testing to verify panels are functional and compliant with the Bill of Materials before leaving the shop.
- Build panels to UL 508A and National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) standards.
- Communicate inventory needs and work progress to the Shop Lead.
- A technical certification or an associate’s degree in Electrical Technology is highly preferred.
