About the job

Requirements
  • At least 8 years in hyperscaler alliances, including hands-on ownership of a major hyperscaler relationship.
  • Working knowledge of hyperscaler field organizations, co-sell programs, marketplaces, and commercial models, with evidence of turning corporate agreements into customer wins.
  • A proven track record of developing focused, early-stage partnerships into scalable channels that deliver sustained revenue growth.
  • Demonstrated commercial expertise in frontier technologies or an emerging technology category, translating uncertain capabilities, evolving roadmaps, and customer needs into credible, staged adoption plans.
  • A record of building a small number of deep partnerships and personally co-selling early customer engagements, from discovery and qualification through solution development, negotiation, and close.
  • Strong executive communication, commercial negotiation, and cross-functional leadership, with discipline in pipeline qualification, forecasting, and investment prioritization.
  • Experience converting early customer engagements into approved references, reusable solution patterns, and repeatable partner sales motions.
  • Ability to operate globally and travel; a master’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to work closely with technical specialists, distinguish validated capabilities from future potential, and establish customer success criteria without overstating readiness.
Responsibilities
  • Prioritize a few lighthouse hyperscaler relationships and specific industry teams and geographies based on customer fit for remote quantum computing access, committed executives, technical capacity, and willingness to invest in joint pursuits; deepen these relationships before expanding the portfolio.
  • Own global joint plans with a limited set of lighthouse accounts, committed partner resources, commercial milestones, and agreed measures of customer success.
  • Personally work with hyperscaler sellers, specialists, and IonQ teams to discover customer needs, qualify quantum computing needs, develop proposals for remote access to IonQ quantum computers, and close initial capacity resale engagements.
  • Shape related data-center hardware and application or algorithm development pursuits with the appropriate partner teams and IonQ specialists.
  • Engage Field and Partner Engineering to validate project feasibility, access requirements, dependencies, and adoption milestones; Partner Engineering evaluates integration needs, while Field Engineering supports customer discovery, solution development, and live quantum computing pursuits.
  • Build seller confidence through joint execution and evidence from customer work.
  • Validate the cloud-service, marketplace, and private-offer routes for remote quantum capacity resale in each pursuit, including eligibility for applicable cloud commitments; negotiate pricing, capacity terms, and commercial responsibilities with Legal and Finance.
  • Jointly discover needs, qualify use cases, shape solutions, co-sell, and deliver early engagements; build reusable success stories and playbooks, then expand based on evidence of repeatability.
  • Own the named worldwide hyperscaler alliance and mobilize partner headquarters, global executive access, programs, and specialist resources; coordinate with regional leads, who develop local partner teams and opportunities, bring customer context, and coordinate field execution with regional sales leads.
  • Develop regional account plans with regional partner leads and establish shared pursuit responsibilities, agreed customer outcomes, milestones, and pipeline reviews.
  • Address local barriers through global governance and bring regional customer lessons into global plans, partner priorities, and technical roadmap discussions.
  • Track qualified quantum capacity pipeline, commercial progress, paid usage, and revenue; maintain one shared opportunity record with distinct global and regional contributions.
  • Capture approved quantum computing customer references, practical capacity buying guides, and repeatable co-sell playbooks; work with Programs and Marketing to turn lighthouse engagement lessons into reusable tools and go-to-market approaches.
  • Extend successful approaches to further accounts and regions after demonstrating technical viability, customer value, and workable partner economics.
Desired Qualifications
  • Quantum experience, including quantum computing, networking and security, space, or sensing; relevant experience may include commercialization, partnerships, customer adoption, or technical solution development.
  • Experience with sovereign or regulated markets, public-sector procurement, or international trade compliance relevant to advanced technology.

About the company

IonQ sells quantum computing through cloud access and on-site systems that use trapped-ion qubits. Its processors, such as Forte and Tempo, are accessed by customers via cloud platforms or deployed on customer sites, and the company is expanding into quantum networking, quantum key distribution, and sensing through acquisitions and a SkyWater Technology deal. It differentiates itself with trapped-ion technology and by building a broader quantum ecosystem through strategic acquisitions and partnerships to connect devices and services beyond hardware alone. Its goal is to scale commercial quantum computing, grow revenue, and strengthen its cash position to support ongoing expansion and ecosystem development.

IonQ is the one quantum stock to buy with $1,000, despite $273M cash burn

A Motley Fool columnist says IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) is the one quantum computing stock he would buy with $1,000, though he calls it a speculative pick within a diversified portfolio. IonQ uses trapped-ion technology, in which ions hold their quantum states longer, cutting error rates. It is natively integrated with Google Cloud, Microsoft's Azure Quantum, and Amazon's Braket, and it has a deal with Nvidia to link its Superion 256 system with Nvidia's AI supercomputing rack. The finances are risky. Revenue rose 412% year on year in the first half of 2026, but free cash flow was negative $273 million. IonQ holds more than $2.1 billion in liquidity, about four years at the current burn rate, and trades at a price-to-sales ratio of 44.

IonQ's quarterly revenue hits $80M, nearing Innodata's $92.1M as AI data firm's growth slows

IONQ's quarterly revenue is close to overtaking Innodata's, as the quantum computing company grows far faster than the artificial intelligence data firm. IONQ earned $80.0 million in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, up from $12.4 million in the quarter ended September 30, 2024. Innodata took in $92.1 million, up from $52.2 million. Innodata's growth has slowed in 2026. Leadership changes in its chief executive officer and chief financial officer roles have also weighed on the stock, which is down about 35% over the past 12 months. IONQ has agreed to acquire an enterprise security infrastructure company in an all-stock deal valued at $1.3 billion. It also reached the final round of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative on October 7.

IonQ shares fall 9% as it agrees $1.3B all-stock deal for Elisity

IonQ agreed to buy Elisity, a zero-trust security software maker, in an all-stock deal valued at up to $1.3 billion. The company's shares fell 9.07% to $36.27 on October 12, wiping about $1.44 billion off its market value. Quantum peers also slid. The price includes up to $150 million in earnouts tied to Elisity's performance. Closing is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approval. The share count depends on IonQ's 20-trading-day average price before closing, within a $33.07 to $49.61 collar. At the October 12 close, the deal equals about 35.8 million shares, roughly 9% on top of 397.30 million outstanding. IonQ said Elisity has doubled revenue and customers year over year, with more than 100 deployments, but gave no revenue figure.
