Automotive Service Advisor
About the job
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous automotive industry experience is preferred, or three years of relevant experience in a fast-paced environment with a proven sales and customer satisfaction record.
- Knowledge of automotive technology and the ability to communicate that information to the support team, customers, and auto technicians are required.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- The ability to complete required pre-employment screenings, including a background check and drug screening, if offered the position, is required.
- Authorization to work in the United States is required.
- Greet customers, answer telephone calls, and schedule appointments in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Review repairs and services with customers to ensure a complete understanding of the services performed.
- Contact customers whenever there is a deviation from the original cost estimate or the vehicle pickup time.
- Record the name and time of approval for all repair or service orders and any additional costs.
- Distribute work to shop technicians while monitoring the progress and accuracy of each job.
- Provide information to technicians on request as needed.
- Arrange repairs and payment for vehicles covered by extended warranty programs.
- Arrange towing and alternate transportation, such as shuttle or rental vehicles, when necessary in accordance with Total Repair Care standards.
- Monitor vehicle inspection dates in the system to ensure inspections are completed before their due dates.
- Notify customers when vehicles need service according to manufacturer-recommended intervals and state requirements, and explain the information to them.
- Previous experience in the automotive industry is preferred.
- ASE Service Advisor Certification is a plus but not required.
