About the job
- A diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
- At least three years of experience in a similar position is required; hospitality experience is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Working knowledge of air conditioning units.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics related to plumbing and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
- Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of the safe use of hand and power tools and other materials required for repair and maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventive maintenance, energy management, and associated devices.
- Ability to troubleshoot hotel mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Ability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods; perform regular bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping; and move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 20–25 pounds without assistance.
- Respond to and attend to Curators’ repair requests.
- Communicate with Curators to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and machines.
- Identify, locate, and operate equipment shut-off valves.
- Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
- Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
- Safely perform complex repairs to the physical property and electrical, plumbing, mechanical, air-conditioning, refrigeration, and pool-heating equipment, ensuring methods, materials, and practices meet company standards and local and national codes.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing, electrical equipment, air conditioners, HVAC equipment, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, and internet devices; replace electrical switches and outlets; and program TVs.
- Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Perform other duties assigned by the team to whom the role reports.
- Experience in a hospitality environment.
