Requirements
- Three to five years of previous field surveying experience, including at least one year of office experience.
- Working knowledge of surveying principles and practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic understanding of Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D surveying software.
- Proficiency using survey field equipment and its standard of care.

- Ability to work independently and cooperatively on projects of varying sizes.
- Understanding of surveying laws and regulations.

- Ability to travel as needed, including minimal overnight travel.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and perform physical labor.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on difficult terrain, including wooded areas.
- Valid driver's license and favorable driving record.
- An associate's or bachelor's degree in land surveying, engineering, geomatics, or engineering technology is preferred or in progress; alternatively, applicable land surveying experience with a high school diploma is acceptable.
Responsibilities
- Assist with conducting and leading boundary, right-of-way, topographic, utility, control, and construction surveys.
- Assist project and survey managers with planning schedules, developing tasks, preparing scopes and fee proposals, and establishing project budgets.
- Conduct deed, record survey, right-of-way plan, and utility research.
- Lead field and office survey team members under the Survey Manager's direction throughout project lifespans, using effective communication and established survey practices.
- Conduct boundary analysis and right-of-way determinations.
- Prepare and archive survey data and reports for project records.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other surveyors to meet project specifications and schedules.
- Use Trimble total stations, GPS, and levels.
- Use Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D for post-field survey processing and quality reviews.
- Follow local, state, and federal surveying regulations.
- Perform duties safely and efficiently in compliance with local, company, and client safety requirements; identify and address hazardous conditions and promptly notify supervisory personnel.
Desired Qualifications
- A firm understanding of Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
- Experience preparing proposals and project estimates.
- Ability to write legal descriptions.
- Knowledge of surveying laws and regulations.
- Past experience working on Department of Transportation and State Turnpike projects; prequalified Department of Transportation Right-of-Way Plan Designer is a plus.
- Additional experience beyond the minimum qualifications.
- Efficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Certification as a Survey Technician (CST I-IV) or Survey Intern (SI).
