Required Skills
React.js

Requirements
  • Experience building production frontend applications with React and TypeScript (or equivalent modern web stack).
  • Strong intuition for UI/UX.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, taking fuzzy problems and driving toward concrete solutions with minimal high-leverage scope.
  • Strong ownership mindset focused on shipping customer value and delivering robust, usable solutions.
  • Full-stack or generalist experience, comfortable contributing to the backend when needed.
Responsibilities
  • Own several bespoke user interfaces for users from interceptor drone navigators to security forces operators.
  • When a feature needs changes in other parts of the system you will often jump in and help implement those.
  • Shape real-time geospatial user interfaces that integrate live video, maps, and controls for complex defense systems.
  • Work closely with product, design, and customers to turn ambiguous needs into shipping products at lightning speed.
  • Occasionally travel to the customer to help learn the real requirements and constraints and iterate with them in the field.
  • The role is frontend-heavy (React / TypeScript), but you should be comfortable working across the stack when needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience optimizing web applications in resource and bandwidth constrained environments
  • Experience with real-time, data-heavy, or geospatial applications (e.g., maps, tracking, control systems, fleet management)
  • Experience with Deck.gl, Mapbox/MapLibre
  • High-agency, go-getter who enjoys high-ownership roles and shaping product/architecture in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Collaborative and motivated by working on mission-critical, real-world problems.
  • Experience building ATAK integrations or other Android development.
  • Experience building offline-first web applications

Picogrid builds a unified platform that connects and remotely controls autonomous defense systems, creating an open ecosystem where sensors, drones, command interfaces, and other defense tech suppliers can work together. Its product enables interoperability by linking fragmented systems into a single management layer, while its flagship sensor platform Lander and other sensors can be manufactured and deployed via secured cloud infrastructure, including AWS GovCloud. The company differentiates itself by offering an open, interoperable ecosystem and end-to-end integration across multiple vendors and platforms, backed by large federal contracts with the U.S. Army and other defense agencies. Picogrid’s goal is to enable scalable, secure, and quickly deployable defense operations by providing a unified platform for autonomous systems and expanding its manufacturing capability to support ongoing operations.

What believers are saying

  • The $45M Series A funds broader products and deployment expansion.[3][4]
  • Army validation and 80+ deployments support additional government contract wins.[2]
  • Interoperability with ATAK and Maven Smart System fits existing military workflows.[5]

What critics are saying

  • Shield AI and Anduril can bundle integration into vertically integrated stacks.[4][5]
  • Defense procurement delays can stall revenue and underutilize expansion capacity.[3][5]
  • AWS GovCloud dependence creates compliance risk for sensitive government workloads.[6][7]

What makes Picogrid unique

  • Picogrid builds the integration layer, not replacement sensors or weapons.[1][3]
  • Its Legion software enables cross-vendor interoperability across land, sea, air, and space.[1][3]
  • The platform is already fielded across dozens of DoD sites and allied deployments.[1][2][6]
