Requirements
  • A high school education or equivalent is required, and candidates must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have water aerobics instruction experience; otherwise qualified candidates may be trained in the Aqua Zumba specialty.
  • Must hold American Red Cross CPR, Automated External Defibrillator, and First Aid certification.
  • Must be able to recognize situations requiring lifeguarding services and make safety-related decisions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with community members and coworkers in person, by email, and by phone.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English.
  • Must be able to work in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment for extended periods.
  • Must be able to demonstrate pool-based movements, stand, walk, sit, stoop, and kneel frequently, and lift up to 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Design, instruct, and facilitate Aqua Zumba classes.
  • Create a safe, supportive environment that fosters confidence and skill-appropriate conditioning.
  • Ensure participant safety through preventive measures and by minimizing hazardous situations.
  • Build trust and foster self-confidence while adapting instruction to participants' unique needs.
  • Maintain discretion and class records.
  • Communicate ongoing class and programming information effectively to the supervisor.
  • Prepare classes, including music and day-to-day preparations.
  • Manage equipment used for sessions.
  • Recognize and respond according to protocols in emergency situations.
  • Create a welcoming environment where each individual feels seen and welcomed.
  • Support JCC Greater Boston's mission, vision, and values through personal role modeling.
Desired Qualifications
  • Aqua Zumba training experience is desired.
