Swissquote Group reported record client assets of CHF96.3 billion in the first half of 2026, up 19.8% year-over-year. The Swiss online bank achieved net new money inflows of CHF5.1 billion, its second-best half-year result, with Switzerland contributing CHF2.7 billion and Europe CHF1.7 billion. Net revenues reached CHF364.2 million, up 1.7% year-over-year, with a pre-tax profit margin of 50.2%. The company added 64,000 new Swissquote accounts and 24,000 Yuh accounts during the period. However, crypto revenue disappointed at CHF14 million, significantly below the budgeted CHF85 million due to low volatility. Switzerland accounted for 56% of revenue, whilst Europe contributed 25%. Swissquote revised its 2026 guidance to CHF730 million in revenue and CHF365 million in pre-tax profit, but maintained its 2028 targets of CHF900 million revenue and CHF500 million pre-tax profit.
Swissquote reported mixed first-half results, with client assets hitting a record CHF 96.3 billion, up nearly 20% year on year. The Swiss online bank added 64,011 accounts and attracted CHF 5.1 billion in net new money, one of its strongest inflow performances. However, net crypto assets income plunged 66.2% to CHF 14.6 million as digital assets weakened amid geopolitical tensions and higher interest rates. Crypto trading volumes fell 60% from the second half of 2025. The bank cut its 2026 guidance, now expecting net revenue of CHF 730 million versus CHF 760 million previously, and pre-tax profit of CHF 365 million, down from CHF 385 million. Shares reportedly dropped 10% to 13%. Despite the setback, management maintained its 2028 target of CHF 500 million pre-tax profit.
Swissquote introduces AI Infrastructure theme. Swiss online banking and trading leader Swissquote (SWX:SQN) has announced the launch of a new investment theme - AI Infrastructure. Commenting on what sets its AI Infrastructure theme apart, Swissquote said: "To avoid the inevitable battle between the software darlings driving the AI boom, Swissquote is headed off-piste. The rewards are in the foundational layer of what keeps AI working: data centres, cooling and energy. It doesn't matter which software company wins the war - they'll be reliant on these elements to function. Swissquote's theme targets the physicality of AI. Rather than tailgating volatile software start-ups, this theme invests in companies setting up the infrastructure and power projects that make it possible for these start-ups to exist. This includes securing constant 'base-load' power for 24/7 data centres, managing the high-voltage requirements of graphics processing units (GPU) racks, dissipating the extreme heat they generate (air-conditioning doesn't cut it at these levels, which now exceed 100kW) and facilitating modular buildouts that support the high-speed networking and physical connectors that link thousands of GPUs into a single 'super-factory'. Postfinance sold 3.5% of its Swissquote stake for [CHF]240 million, reducing its holding to 1.5%. This strategic move aims to focus Postfinance's investment portfolio. Despite the sale, operational cooperation between the two firms will continue. The transaction is expected to positively impact Postfinance's 2025 net profit by a low three-digit million range. Swissquote shares fell 5.8% to [CHF]450.20 but remain strong with a 30% annual gain.
Swissquote has acquired PostFinance's 50% stake in Yuh, gaining full ownership of the digital finance platform. The deal, valuing Yuh at CHF 180 million, was approved by authorities. Yuh reported its first annual profit in 2024 with earnings of CHF 1.7 million and saw a 48% increase in accounts. As of June 2025, Yuh held 342,369 accounts and CHF 3.2 billion in assets. Swissquote partly funded the acquisition with treasury shares, increasing PostFinance's stake in Swissquote.
