Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution is preferred, although a combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree.
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, with emphasis on employment, employee relations, and/or benefits, is required.
  • At least one year of leadership experience is required, including knowledge of timekeeping requirements, policy adherence, and conflict resolution; experience supervising employees is preferred.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers is required; the ability to communicate in multiple languages is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, are required.
  • The ability to work effectively with others, exercise tact and discretion, and maintain a high level of confidentiality in all matters is required.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook are required; experience with a human capital management system such as Workday is preferred.
  • The ability to demonstrate initiative and a sense of urgency while working in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish proficiency is required, including native-level proficiency in Spanish.
  • The ability to remain stationary for extended periods is required.
  • The ability to work non-standard hours, including holidays, weekends, and extended shifts, as needed by business requirements, is required.
  • Compliance with departmental and company safety policies and programs is required.
  • Required protective equipment must be worn in areas where it is mandatory.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources department to ensure work is completed in compliance with company policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local legal requirements.
  • Counsel and guide managers on appropriate performance-management measures; assist with corrective-action memos and documentation; attend or conduct corrective-action sessions and follow up as necessary.
  • Advise managers and supervisors on state and federal regulations and effective human resources practices regarding employee issues.
  • Coordinate recruitment for salaried exempt and non-exempt openings, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing; ensure offers follow procedures and are available in Workday; coordinate new-hire paperwork and conduct salaried-employee orientation covering policies and benefit options.
  • Identify employee needs related to performance problems, training options, and career development, and make recommendations.
  • Provide human-resources training on performance counseling and employee-relations issues.
  • Research employee complaints and grievances and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Gather and compile data, create required reports such as CERP and Retention reports, and communicate information to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Administer the NOCTI program, including testing, recording scores, promotions, and subsequent pay increases based on passing levels.
  • Identify and communicate process-improvement opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Mentor, coach, train, and cross-train employees; encourage career development and provide consistent feedback on strengths and areas needing improvement.
  • Follow and promote safety initiatives, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment in mandatory areas, to help maintain a zero-accident culture.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
  • Lead people using competencies including sizing up people, delegation, planning, customer focus, and conflict management.
