Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and targeted job-related education.
  • Universal Environmental Protection Agency Refrigeration Certificate.
  • At least two years of experience in a commercial HVAC/R role.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to climb and balance, and to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Significant fine finger dexterity and ability to work under temperature extremes.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations during or after normal working hours.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the assigned supervisor and other trades to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Inform personnel about procedures and work-order status to support decision-making, appropriate action, and compliance with building and safety regulations.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC/R systems.
  • Install heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Diagnose problems and failures in heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems to identify repair or replacement needs.
  • Inspect HVAC/R systems and components, including heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, and boilers, to evaluate condition and recommend repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Repair heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems and components, including pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, piping, and kitchen equipment.
  • Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability for installations and repairs.
  • Prepare written materials such as repair-status documents and activity logs.
  • Respond to emergency situations during or after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Respond to work orders and assist with facilities-related projects as assigned.
  • Assist with winter snow-removal efforts.
  • Serve on security detail when assigned and follow established protocols for responding to and documenting community concerns.
  • Complete duties efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the orientation and development of new employees.
  • Maintain the skills and competencies used in assigned work areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
