Requirements
  • A Master of Arts (MA) in social studies education or social studies teaching and learning, and/or extensive relevant experience as a school educator, teacher, or pedagogue.
  • Excellent oral and written proficiency in French is required because the course is taught in French.
  • Experience as a master kindergarten or elementary teacher/instructor, with knowledge of Quebec’s educational program; Quebec’s elementary social studies program; teaching and learning of history, geography, and citizenship education; elementary teaching and learning theory and methodologies; and sound instructional techniques.
  • Previous successful experience teaching similar courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Knowledge of the impact of and a proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored in equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Familiarity with myCourses, Zoom, and similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
  • Familiarity with a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in Quebec at the campus where the position is based.
  • English communication skills, verbally and in writing, are required.
Responsibilities
  • Teach EDEE 283-004, Social Studies Pedagogy, during the Winter 2027 term. The course covers programs, materials, and strategies for social studies from kindergarten through grade six.
  • Teach the course in person at the Education Building on Mondays from 8:35 a.m. to 11:25 a.m.
Desired Qualifications
  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.
  • Experience as a master teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system is an asset.
  • Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
