Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Transportation, Business Administration, or a similar field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in railroad operations planning, timetable development, or service design, including direct experience working with a Class 1 railroad in the United States.
  • Deep understanding of American freight railroad operations, capacity planning, and coordination between infrastructure owners and train operators.
  • Project management skills, including experience leading multidisciplinary teams and client deliverables.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, quickly grasp new concepts, and produce results effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, for analyses and quantitative models.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation for periods of up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Ability to speak on the telephone for up to 3 hours per day.
  • Ability to sit for up to 3 hours without breaks at meetings.
  • Ability to walk and stand for up to 4 hours without breaks at program site visits and meetings.
Responsibilities
  • Transform client requirements into effective and efficient operational plans.
  • Oversee and ensure the quality of technical work produced under the role's direction by analysts and consultants on projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Perform research and quantitative analyses, conduct and coordinate studies, and lead workshops.
  • Present project results to senior management.
  • Prepare proposals and pursuits, including project methodologies, budgets, and schedules.
  • Leverage Deutsche Bahn railway subject-matter experts in other consulting projects where applicable.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency with simulation tools such as RTC or similar dynamic simulation software.
