About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of Java development experience, with familiarity with Spring Boot, RESTful API design, and basic microservices concepts.
  • Working knowledge of React, including hooks, component design, and state management, plus exposure to frontend testing tools such as Jest.
  • Basic understanding of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SAML protocols; exposure to Okta, Azure Active Directory, or similar identity providers.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, Docker, and basic Kubernetes operations, with willingness to grow into infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Grounding in software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and core design patterns.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including writing and debugging SQL queries and understanding basic schema design.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure, and eagerness to deepen cloud-native skills.
  • Eagerness to learn security-domain concepts and take on increasing ownership over time.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Java backend services and RESTful APIs under the guidance of senior engineers, contributing to design decisions.
  • Build and maintain React user-interface components and pages using established patterns for state management, routing, and accessibility.
  • Implement and maintain identity and access management flows using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SAML under guidance, integrating with Okta or other identity providers.
  • Apply security best practices, including secure token handling, input validation, and basic role-based access control patterns.
  • Contribute to and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools, supporting reliable and repeatable deployments.
  • Work with Docker containers and Kubernetes deployments, and gain hands-on exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Helm.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and senior engineers to understand requirements and translate them into working, testable code.
  • Use observability tools such as New Relic, Splunk, and Datadog to monitor application behavior and participate in incident response.
  • Write unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and improve code quality and test coverage.
  • Document code, APIs, and features, and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
  • Integrate and experiment with artificial intelligence and large language model APIs, such as OpenAI and Anthropic, to build AI-assisted features; use AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate development and improve code quality.

Desired Qualifications

  • Academic or project-level exposure to identity and access management, digital certificates, or public key infrastructure.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, or event-streaming patterns relevant to real-time security-event processing.
  • Familiarity with feature flags or deployment strategies such as blue/green deployments in a team setting.
  • Personal projects, open-source contributions, or coursework demonstrating full-stack development or an interest in security.
  • Experience building AI-powered features using large language model APIs, retrieval-augmented generation patterns, or generative artificial intelligence tools within Java or React applications.
  • Hands-on experience or strong interest in artificial intelligence and large language model integration, including calling large language model APIs, prompt engineering, or embedding AI-assisted workflows into Java or React applications.
