About the job
- Must have an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance with Special Access Program access.
- Must have 10 or more years of experience supporting large-scale space programs in acquisition, systems engineering, or space operations.
- Must have 3 or more years of direct experience in space operations or operational mission planning.
- Must have 8 or more years of experience with National Security Space systems, including spacecraft, ground systems, and/or launch operations.
- Must have a strong understanding of space mission architecture, spacecraft systems, ground segment operations, and launch integration.
- Must have experience supporting rapid acquisition programs and accelerated development environments, such as Small Business Innovation Research and Other Transaction Authority programs.
- Must be able to support technical integration across multiple mission elements and stakeholder organizations.
- Must have analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in mission planning, operational analysis, and technical risk management.
- Must have written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior leadership and mission partners.
- Must be able and willing to work onsite in U.S. Government facilities and secure environments.
- Must have a bachelor's degree; a STEM field is preferred.
- Must have a master's degree in STEM, business/management, or a related area.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to government information, subject to a security investigation.
- Plan and execute Tactically Responsive Space missions, including spacecraft integration, ground systems, launch operations, logistics, and on-orbit execution.
- Conduct mission analysis, mission planning, CONOPS development, and readiness exercises to support responsive space operations.
- Coordinate daily with government customers, mission partners, and industry stakeholders to ensure mission alignment and rapid execution.
- Manage the Rendezvous and Proximity Operations technical baseline, leading integration across spacecraft buses, payloads, ground systems, software, and mission systems.
- Maintain technical risk registers and develop mitigation strategies across mission and system elements.
- Perform technical assessments of space, ground, and operational architectures to support mission planning and system integration.
- Define system performance data requirements, support sustainment planning, and contribute to development of command-and-control and mission planning software.
- Develop acquisition requirements and documentation supporting rapid procurement pathways, such as Small Business Innovation Research and Other Transaction Authority.
- Support source selections, evaluate technical proposals, and ensure alignment with mission and operational requirements.
- Assist with financial and program documentation, such as Form 9 and MIPR, and track cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure execution and adherence to program timelines.
- Support technical and contractual negotiations related to scope, pricing, and program requirements.
- Apply operational frameworks and doctrine, including Joint Warfighting Concepts, Combatant Command processes, Diplomatic, Information, Military, and Economic elements, the Observe-Orient-Decide-Act Loop, and the Joint Planning Process.
