  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical Level 1 and Level 2 certification is required, and the candidate must pass the Level 3 test.
  • At least 3 years of experience in industrial machinery preventive maintenance and repair is required, with mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and schematics is required.
  • Intermediate mathematics and computer skills are required.
  • Ability to operate and use hand and power tools is required, with experience in welding, pipefitting, and/or fabrication.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in English is required.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate is required.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shift hours is required.
  • The candidate must follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times in areas where required.
  • The candidate must be able to stand for up to 8 hours, lift up to 60 pounds, and frequently reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
  • The candidate must be able to roll and push buggies weighing approximately 1,000 pounds and work in hot, cold, wet, and dusty environments around raw animal odors.
Responsibilities
  • Independently troubleshoot reported problems and repair and maintain electrical, power distribution, electromechanical, programmable logic controller, process and machine control, pump, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveying, lighting, and basic AC/DC control systems.
  • Use blueprints and schematic drawings to verify that equipment operates safely within required specifications and tolerances.
  • Identify the root causes of complex mechanical and electrical issues and repair them using welding, fabrication, basic pipefitting, and electrical/process control knowledge.
  • Notify appropriate personnel when an issue requires further attention.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Search for and present ideas for permanent fixes to recurring mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and correct them, requesting assistance when unable to correct them independently.
  • Assist with maintaining files of blueprints, operating manuals, and procedures.
  • Train lower-level employees as needed.
  • Perform periodic testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
