- A valid driver's license is required.

- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry more than 50 pounds is required.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions is required.
- Applicants must have a clean, insurable driving abstract.
- Applicants must be able to acquire and maintain a Department of Transportation physical qualification.
- Applicants must pass drug testing and a federal background check.
- Basic literacy is required, including the ability to read, write, and record routine data and information.
- Applicants must be able to stand for more than eight hours.
- Applicants must wear personal protective equipment required by federal, state, customer, and company standards.
- Applicants must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with customers.
- Perform strenuous manual labor and prepare equipment or vehicles for highway construction projects.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment as recommended.
- Maintain a clean and secure job site by picking up tools and equipment and eliminating potential hazards.
- Handle and store materials and perform assigned shop work.
- Support daily vehicle maintenance by maintaining fluid levels, fuel levels, and tire pressure.
- Load and unload trucks and properly tow trailer-mounted equipment.
- Deliver materials to job sites.
- Follow safety and incident-reporting procedures and notify the supervisor of issues occurring during the work shift.
