Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Tarana launched G2 in 2026, targeting denser markets with higher capacity.
  • MiRO will distribute G1 across South Africa starting August 14, 2026.
  • Tarana still claims 385,000 BEAD homes and more than 80% of fixed-wireless wins.

What critics are saying

  • Starlink won $733.5 million of BEAD awards, squeezing Tarana's addressable subsidy-backed demand.
  • BEAD rule changes and rider disputes can delay deployments into 2027.
  • Tarana's existential risk is carrier concentration; one failed platform refresh cripples future sales.

What makes Tarana Wireless unique

  • Tarana's G1 and G2 use proprietary ngFWA with interference cancellation and beamforming.
  • Over 300 operators in 24 countries deployed Tarana, validating its broadband performance.
  • GSME partnership in March 2026 reinforces Tarana's custom silicon roadmap and execution.

Tarana announces distribution partnership with MiRO to offer its G1 platform in South Africa.

Tarana announces distribution partnership with MiRO to offer its G1 platform in South Africa. Tarana's groundbreaking next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) solution will deliver reliable, fibre-class broadband to operators and their customers across South Africa Tarana announced today it has entered into a partnership with MiRO, a leading distributor of IP convergence technology serving network operators in South Africa, to offer Tarana's next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) solution across the country. G1, the world's first ngFWA solution, has been deployed by more than 300 operators worldwide to deliver reliable broadband to hundreds of thousands of subscribers. G1-powered operators' combined coverage footprint now reaches more than 20 million homes and businesses worldwide. MiRO's core customers are operators and service providers who build and operate last-mile access networks. Tarana ngFWA addresses growing demand for resilient, scalable fixed wireless access in the region. The platform's advanced beamforming, interference mitigation, and adaptive wireless technology help bridge connectivity gaps and enables operators to deliver true carrier-class fixed broadband service. Reliable high-speed internet is not a luxury, it is a necessity, for both operators and customers alike. Operators are seeing demand outpace their ability to reliably increase capacity without negatively affecting quality, and consumers that are demanding higher speeds with better quality have very limited options. "Tarana's proven technology, combined with MiRO's established reputation for service excellence as a value-added distributor, positions us strongly to help South African operators and service providers deploy next-generation fixed wireless networks with confidence," said Marco de Ru, MiRO managing director. "Backed by local stock, technical expertise, and certified training, we're excited to accelerate the adoption of this technology across the region." Legacy wireless was never built for this. It can't deliver high-capacity broadband, can't cut through non-line-of-sight and high-interference environments, and can't scale to modern demand. Tarana ngFWA can. In the African context, it delivers more consistent service and higher speeds than fibre - which is prone to outages and, by design, over-contended. "MiRO's Service Provider customers face two pain points at once: building a network today that reliably delivers high-capacity broadband - 100Mbps to 1Gbps - and having that same network scale for the next twenty years," said Nick Ehrke, Tarana's Africa Lead. "Our ngFWA platform is engineered specifically for fixed broadband - a genuinely different proposition for MiRO and the South African market." MiRO will begin offering ngFWA to its customers 14th August 2026. About Tarana Tarana's mission is to accelerate the deployment of fast, affordable, and reliable internet access around the world. Through a decade of R&D and over $400M of investment, the Tarana team has created and continues to enhance a unique suite of next generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) technologies. Its G1 and G2 platforms deliver game-changing advances in broadband economics in mainstream and underserved markets, using both licensed and unlicensed spectrum. Tarana's ngFWA technology has been embraced by more than 300 service providers in 24 countries. Tarana is headquartered in Milpitas, California, with additional research and development in Pune, India. For more information, visit www.taranawireless.com. About MiRO Founded in South Africa in 2003, MiRO is a leading value-added distributor of IP convergence technology across Southern Africa. From its head office in Centurion and branches in Cape Town, Durban and Nelspruit, MiRO supplies best-of-breed wireless broadband, networking, VoIP, fibre, IoT, IP surveillance and access control solutions to WISPs, ISPs, system integrators, resellers, enterprise and government customers.
