Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of Kodiak’s Short Service Employee (SSE) program is required.
- One year of compression process, production, and equipment-related experience and/or training is required.
- Some knowledge of gas processes and the mechanics of motor compressors, including Waukesha, Ariel, or Caterpillar equipment, is required.
- Electrical troubleshooting skills are required.
- Basic knowledge of compressor packages, including some components and systems, is required.
- Working knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental procedures and regulations is required.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English is required.
- A valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle record within the acceptable parameters of company policy are required.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment is required.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of standing, sitting, climbing ladders or stairs, lifting, working in tight and confined spaces, and working outdoors in extreme heat and cold is required.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment, including fire-retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots, is required.
- Ability to communicate and respond to coworkers, customers, and emergency cues or alarms in person and by telephone, including use of mobile devices, is required.
- Ability to frequently type and use computers and office equipment, including copiers, printers, calendars, and telephones, is required.
- Teamwork, effective written and oral communication, analytical capability, mechanical aptitude, self-motivation and self-control, initiative, planning, problem-solving, and customer focus are listed as main competencies.
Responsibilities
- Assist in running one or more compression jobs and operate compressor packages, equipment, and rentals.
- Provide feedback for developing the location’s operating policies and material forecasts for assigned units.
- Build troubleshooting skills through on-the-job work and classroom training, and troubleshoot basic issues.
- Attend and participate in health, safety, and environmental meetings and adhere to all related protocols.
- Analyze job parts and supply inventory and communicate needs to Supply Chain.
- Maintain customer relationships.
- Take necessary corrective actions, with assistance if needed, to ensure equipment mechanical availability of 98% or better.
- Keep assigned units clean and presentable.
- Complete reports and actions required by area operating procedures and policies.
- Provide 24/7 coverage and work overtime; participate in on-call rotations that include work after regular hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Assist other field positions on occasion.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
