  • Be motivated by alignment of artificial superintelligence and want to contribute to it full-time.
Responsibilities
  • Build agentic research infrastructure, including experiment orchestration, hypothesis generation, automated analysis pipelines, autoformalization tooling for theory, and internal AI-powered tools for researchers on the research automation track.
  • Scale program experiments to frontier-tier models, build program-specific infrastructure, and partner with researchers on engineering and implementation on the program-embedded track.
  • Maintain and extend distributed training, experiment, and evaluation infrastructure.
  • Contribute to and maintain shared codebases across the organization.
  • Communicate engineering and automation progress, obstacles, and learnings to the team and wider organization via Slack and weekly meetings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with autoformalization, Lean, or other proof-assistant tooling.
  • A background in research infrastructure or machine learning platform engineering at frontier labs.
  • Experience scaling machine learning systems to 100B+ parameter scale.
  • Experience with CUDA kernel development or GPU optimization.
  • Familiarity with alignment research.

About the company

Resolution is a nonprofit research organization working on the alignment of artificial superintelligence, and on the risk that such systems arrive before anyone can explain why they would stay safe in open-ended settings. Its programs span learning theory, scalable oversight, game theory, and the low-dimensional structure of model behavior, and it leans on automation to run experiments manual research cannot reach. Engineers build the infrastructure those experiments depend on, and it hires across research, engineering, and security. Unlike safety work that tests models after training and patches what it finds, it is after principled reasons that alignment will generalize. The company's goal is to establish guarantees that hold under a defined training protocol by proving them before such systems exist.

What believers are saying

  • November 2025 dinner raised a record $300,000, signaling stronger donor momentum.
  • February 2026 Kaizen backing targets 50,000 students annually across 35-plus countries.
  • 2025 Returning Finalist SVC selected 28 entrepreneurs, showing repeat engagement.

What critics are saying

  • 2024 Form 990 shows 100% contribution revenue, exposing Resolution to donor concentration.
  • If Enactus integration stalls, the combined network fragments and recruitment weakens by 2027.
  • Youth social entrepreneurship competes with well-funded university accelerators, squeezing fellow acquisition and sponsor attention.

What makes Resolution unique

  • October 2024 Enactus merger created a 40,000-student network across nearly 100 countries.
  • February 2026 Kaizen partnership extends seed funding, mentorship, and pro bono support globally.
  • Resolution Fellows receive lifelong support, not one-off grants, through SVCs and Accelerating Impact Challenge.

Announcing our $160M grant from Coefficient Giving.

Announcing its $160M grant from Coefficient Giving. 9th Jul 2026 Timaeus Research Inc. is excited to announce that Resolution (fka Sequent) has a $160M grant from Coefficient Giving (cG) to put rigorous alignment research on a (closer to) even footing with the frontier labs. Timaeus Research Inc. will use it to accelerate progress towards higher-confidence alignment, or to find evidence and obstacles showing why alignment is hard. The grant is structured as a $108M base plus $52M conditional on a combination of hiring success and compute needs. The base includes a small regranting budget, which Timaeus Research Inc. plan to use both for high-quality non-Resolution alignment research and to give back to shared community infrastructure that Timaeus Research Inc. depend on. Coefficient Giving will be its sole funder to start (thank you!); its goal is to raise larger-scale funds from a mixture of sources once Timaeus Research Inc. demonstrate success with semiautomated alignment theory and empirics. The time for ambitious alignment funding is now. In its launch announcement, Timaeus Research Inc. argued that the time to automate alignment is now: frontier systems have finally reached the threshold where they can make nontrivial theoretical progress, and theoretical research has access to more sources of ground truth than empirical metric climbing. There is a second, structural reason to be more ambitious now: the AI safety funding ecosystem is scaling up. The community has long been hampered by the enormous difference in capital between the nonprofit ecosystem and the for-profit frontier labs. This is starting to change. Coefficient Giving has led the pack, and they can now move at significant speed and scale: the entire process from its initial conversation to grant confirmation took six weeks. They may soon be joined by an enormous influx of philanthropic capital via the OpenAI Foundation and following the Anthropic IPO. The combination of Coefficient Giving and the possibility of a third wave of American philanthropy raises a challenge for the broader nonprofit AI safety ecosystem: how to turn additional capital into safety progress. Please join Timaeus Research Inc. in speeding up higher-confidence alignment! There is a lot of relevant theory and rigorous empirical research happening now across the community, at academic speed or in small nonprofits. The problem is that the AI developers are building the dangerous object (artificial superintelligence) very fast, using tighter feedback loops and more resources. Timaeus Research Inc. believe that superintelligence might arrive soon as a result, potentially in the next few years. This is bad! Timaeus Research Inc. want to make the race between rigor and danger a fair(er) fight. Great research will continue to happen in academia and smaller nonprofits, but Timaeus Research Inc. believe Timaeus Research Inc. can build the fast, tight-feedback version of semiautomated alignment theory and rigorous empirics as well, using the same ingredients: * A critical mass of world-class researchers across a portfolio of interacting research areas, working together as high-communication-bandwidth teams * A bunch of compute resources, both tokens for semiautomated reasoning and GPUs for low and medium-scale empirics (no large training runs!) This includes paying well! Its compensation sits well above nonprofit and academic norms, though Timaeus Research Inc. won't match frontier-lab equity. Join Timaeus Research Inc. in closing the gap. Timaeus Research Inc. is hiring! Timaeus Research Inc. is rapidly growing its team and looking to fill a range of both technical and non-technical positions. If you are a theorist who agrees with the need to move quickly on alignment, apply to its research scientist positions. If you are an empiricist or engineer who agrees with the need for more rigor, apply to its research scientist or research engineer positions. If you are an operator who wants to help build Resolution into an effective organization for turning human creativity and compute into alignment progress, please apply to its operations positions! Timaeus Research Inc. will grow more! Down the road, Timaeus Research Inc. expect Timaeus Research Inc.'ll need to grow even further in compute and/or humans, necessitating additional funding. Aligning ASI is the project of its time. It will require the best effort its civilization can muster. If you want to find out how you can help, please reach out!
