Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Three years of experience working in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities or a related field is required.
  • Knowledge of program-specific requirements and regulations is required.
  • A valid New York State driver's license acceptable to agency insurance standards is required, with a current valid insurance card when using a personal vehicle.
  • CPR and First Aid certification are required; training is provided.
  • AMAP certification is required; training is provided.
  • SCIP certification is required; training is provided.
  • The candidate must be able to work independently and demonstrate organizational skills, reliable decision-making, and critical thinking.
  • The candidate must be able to safely lift 50 pounds and perform bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling as needed.
  • The candidate must maintain required training and certifications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Reading and math skills are required to perform duties such as reviewing doctors' orders, preparing recipes, completing program documentation, and maintaining ledgers.
  • The candidate must be able to facilitate personal outcomes for individuals receiving services, teach others, maintain confidentiality, and remain calm in stressful or demanding situations.
  • The candidate must adhere to the agency attendance policy and be willing to rove throughout the agency as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing support to residences during the evening shift by visiting residential programs and ensuring quality services and compliance with agency and state policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Serve as an evening presence throughout the agency and provide guidance and mentorship to staff.
  • Serve as the primary on-call support and ensure appropriate evening staffing.
  • Ensure safe work and living environments, including compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations, and intervene immediately when safety issues are identified.
  • Assist with the supervision and documentation of fire evacuation drills.
  • Receive, document, communicate, and coordinate appropriate support for call-offs and other evening staffing issues.
  • Document residential visits and provide routine feedback to the residential team.
  • Review medical guidelines, Individualized Program and Planning documents, Staff Action Plans, and Behavior Support Plans with staff as necessary.
  • Ensure staff perform household functions, including infection control, meal preparation, laundry, and housekeeping, and perform those duties when needed.
  • Perform medical and health-related functions in accordance with AMAP policy.
  • Work directly with people served to ensure their personal wants and needs are met.
  • Serve on committees as assigned and perform other duties requested by the supervisor.
