Responsibilities

Perform laboratory experiments and may be responsible for a single research project.
Utilize software relevant to experiments and equipment used.
Interpret data, form conclusions, and decide on next steps under the direction of the PI or designee.
Maintain accurate records and modify protocols with the approval of the PI or designee.
Review literature, publications, and grants relevant to assigned projects.
Record results according to established laboratory, sponsor, and university protocols.
Assist with data analysis and mathematical computations.
Maintain a detailed laboratory notebook according to laboratory practice.
Present findings at laboratory or group meetings.
Monitor laboratory supply levels and order supplies as noted.
Prepare and label buffers, media, and solutions.
Assist with and comply with all safety regulations and infection control standards.
Train on IACUC, IRB, EHS, and radiation safety protocols.
Comply with applicable state, federal, university, and sponsor policies and agreements.
Support identification of problems and challenges, propose resolutions, and implement appropriate solutions.
Support drafting standard operating procedures in compliance with EHS regulations specific to the laboratory.
Perform other duties as required.

Overview

The Li lab is recruiting a Research Associate to perform cell culture and molecular biology experiments to support research projects related to mRNA therapeutics and the Sponsor Research Agreement with Rhodes Therapeutics. The research projects will involve mammalian cell culture, RNA transfection, reporter assays, qPCR, ELISA, molecular cloning, preparation of in vitro transcribed RNAs and their purifications. The Li lab works on developing platform technologies for mRNA therapeutics. We utilize a wide range of technologies including biochemistry, chemical biology, directed evolution, and high-throughput sequencing.
