Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience in wheel refurbishing or automotive repair is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience in paint preparation, automotive refinishing, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of painting and surface preparation techniques is required.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools is required.
  • The ability to work independently is required.
  • The candidate must be able to work outside in all kinds of weather.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
  • The candidate must be able to frequently kneel, bend, and squat and lift up to 45 pounds.
  • The candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Responsibilities
  • Support one or more Paint Technicians by washing vehicles, locating and removing panel imperfections, treating scratches and chips with plastic or liquid filler, masking vehicles, smoothing rough spots, removing tape after painting, cleaning vehicles, and preparing them for buffing.
  • Thoroughly inspect wheels for damage, cracks, bends, and other issues.
  • Evaluate the extent of damage to determine the required repair or refurbishment.
  • Inspect surfaces to be painted and assess their condition.
  • Remove dirt, dust, and contaminants from surfaces using cleaning agents, solvents, and other appropriate methods.
  • Sand surfaces to create a smooth and uniform texture and ensure proper paint adhesion.
  • Repair minor surface imperfections or damage, including dents and scratches.
  • Apply masking tape, paper, and other protective materials to areas that should not be painted.
  • Cover windows, trim, and other parts that need to be shielded from paint.
  • Apply primer to surfaces to enhance paint adhesion and corrosion resistance.
  • Sand primed surfaces to achieve a smooth finish.
  • Clean and maintain painting equipment, including spray guns, paint booths, and related tools.
  • Follow safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain records of preparation processes, materials used, and issues or defects encountered.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
