Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Education and family leave receive support: an Ottawa vacancy lists tuition and accreditation subsidies plus maternity, parental and adoption top-ups.
  • U.S. operations added another site: JOEY opened its second Dallas restaurant in September 2026.
  • Serving includes skill development: a Burrard vacancy lists mentorship, culinary and service training, and bar and kitchen competitions.

What critics are saying

  • Ottawa management spans a large team: JOEY's bar role covers 50-100 staff, quarterly targets and openness to cross-border openings.
  • Server earnings include gratuities: JOEY Burrard lists CAD18.25 hourly plus tips, making income above that wage dependent on customers.
  • Maple service runs late: JOEY's Dallas location trades until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

What makes JOEY Restaurants unique

  • Culinary leadership brings competition experience: JOEY's executive chef Matthew Stowe won Top Chef.
  • The bar has its own branded bourbon: JOEY serves Maker's Mark JOEY Reserve Peach Brulee in its cocktail program.
  • Experienced recruits get a defined entry path: JOEY's Accelerated Leadership Program builds on external hires' previous management experience.
