Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Maintain continuing medical education points as mandated by the Mammography Quality Standards Act.
  • Hold and maintain valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in radiology.
  • Hold BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Be proficient in stereotactic and wire-placement breast biopsies.
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Comply with FDA and MQSA regulatory requirements and applicable Baptist Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
  • Apply radiation safety principles and standard precautions, including appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Use the Radiology Information System and Corporate Radiology computer systems accurately.
  • Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance.
Responsibilities
  • Provide quality patient care while performing mammography imaging services and related procedures.
  • Assess patients' physical condition and age-specific needs.
  • Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Perform proper patient identification, acquire clinical history, and accurately document information.
  • Position the patient, equipment, and associated devices and manipulate technical factors to produce high-quality images.
  • Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, annotation, patient identification, and complete demonstration of breast anatomy according to MQSA/ACR guidelines.
  • Apply radiation safety principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Record exam arrival and completion, code procedures, and retrieve reports in the Radiology Information System.
  • Use sterile technique for sterile procedures in accordance with policy and training.
  • Administer medical aid during emergencies as required.
  • Comply with quality-control standards and participate in quality-control tasks.
  • Ensure customer safety.
  • Follow established imaging-processing procedures and techniques.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area.
  • Prioritize workload to manage multiple priorities.
  • Assure customer satisfaction.
