About the Job

Requirements

  • Have built and shipped data- or machine-learning-driven products to specialist professional users in complex, high-stakes, or regulated domains, with real operational consequences for end users.
  • Have worked directly with end users in mission-critical or operational settings, translating ambiguous real-world needs into precise and implementable product requirements.
  • Have integrated products into existing customer data sources, intelligence systems, and operational toolchains, and maintained a consistent production shipping cadence in constrained environments.
  • Engage substantively with engineering teams spanning radio frequency hardware, embedded software, and machine learning, bringing sufficient technical fluency to make trade-offs legible and decisions well-founded.
  • Hold a degree in electrical engineering, physics, computer science, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Hold a valid work permit for Germany, be eligible to undergo a German government security clearance at SÜ2 level, and have professional proficiency in English alongside working proficiency in German at B1 or above.

Responsibilities

  • Own product scope for offboard and cross-platform electronic warfare capabilities, leading problem framing, discovery, requirements, roadmap, and release across the full product lifecycle.
  • Engage directly with electronic warfare operators, analysts, and mission planners in their working environments, converting operationally complex and often second-hand inputs into clear, actionable product specifications.
  • Define and continuously improve customer workflows for adapting the products to their own data environments and operational contexts under security and data-availability constraints.
  • Drive the end-to-end process for building, validating, and rolling out mission-critical data products across teams and platforms, maintaining rigour at every stage.
  • Determine how the products integrate with customers’ existing data sources, intelligence systems, and mission planning tools, ensuring operational coherence at the point of use.
  • Facilitate decision-making across a cross-functional team spanning radio frequency, embedded software, machine learning, and ground-side tooling; make trade-offs visible and ensure they are resolved with appropriate urgency.
  • Establish and maintain a regular, reliable shipping cadence into production environments where frequent deployment is difficult by default.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience building products for defence, government, or other mission-critical customers, particularly in data-scarce or security-constrained environments.
  • A background in radar, radio frequency, or electronic warfare, whether academic, industrial, or operational, such as experience as an electronic warfare operator, signals intelligence analyst, or radar/electronic warfare engineer.
  • Direct experience with offboard electronic warfare, including mission data analysis workflows, or with cross-platform and networked electronic warfare architectures.

About the Company

Helsing

AI software and autonomous defense systems

Helsing develops AI software and autonomous systems for democratic governments, covering air, land, sea, and sub-surface domains. Its software combines data from drones, radar, satellites, cameras and other sensors to create a real-time operational picture that helps commanders detect threats and move quickly, while keeping key decisions under human control. Its product lineup includes AI-enabled strike drones (HF-1 / HX-2) for contested environments and underwater surveillance systems (SG-1 Fathom) for critical infrastructure. Helsing collaborates with European armed forces and partners such as Saab, Airbus and Kongsberg, and has supported Ukraine since 2022. The company has raised large rounds of funding, with a focus on expanding AI platforms and autonomous systems for partner nations. Its goal is to provide robust, field-ready AI-powered platforms that enable faster, safer decision-making and action in defense while maintaining governance over critical choices.
