Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
  • Phlebotomy certification is required for Emergency Department Technician II.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • The employee must be able to stand, sit, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear, and lift or exert energy as specified in the physical requirements.
  • The employee must be able to read and interpret business, safety, clinical, and technical materials; write reports and correspondence; present information and respond to questions; apply common-sense understanding; and handle standardized problems.
  • The employee must comply with infection-control protocols and properly use personal protective equipment.
  • Employment authorization is verified through the federal E-Verify program.
Responsibilities
  • Take patients' vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Perform electrocardiograms.
  • Assist physicians or nurses with procedures.
  • Monitor telemetry patients.
  • Collect specimens using the appropriate methods.
  • Provide crutch training.
  • Assist with ordering supplies.
  • Perform bladder scans and insert Foley catheters when required.
  • Transport patients.
  • Provide direct patient care to patients of all age groups.
  • Handle emergency or crisis situations and work in an environment involving infectious diseases, blood-borne disease risks, injuries, illness, and unpredictable situations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Some experience in a medical setting is preferred.
