LivaNova has announced that its PolySync programming algorithm achieved an 84.5% cumulative response rate in patients with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea treated with proximal hypoglossal nerve stimulation. The findings were presented at SLEEP 2026 by lead author Alan Schwartz. The results build on LivaNova's OSPREY trial, which reported a 65% responder rate after 12 months. In the PolySync substudy, patients who initially did not respond underwent reprogramming using simultaneous-contact stimulation, converting most into responders and significantly improving outcomes. The approach was well tolerated with no serious adverse events. PolySync will be available with LivaNova's commercial product. The company is preparing its next-generation obstructive sleep apnea device for FDA submission in the second half of 2026, featuring MRI compatibility and rechargeable battery technology.
LivaNova, a medical technology company, has appointed Jette Nygaard-Andersen to its Board of Directors following its Annual General Meeting on 10 June. Nygaard-Andersen currently chairs Coloplast A/S, a Danish medical device company, and previously served as CEO of Entain plc and in senior roles at Modern Times Group AB. The appointment coincides with Dr Sharon O'Kane stepping down after 10 years on the board. Brooke Story will succeed O'Kane as Chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, whilst Peter Wilver assumes leadership of the Compensation and Human Capital Management Committee. LivaNova develops medical solutions for neurological and cardiac conditions, employs approximately 3,300 people, and operates in over 100 countries.
LivaNova reported 10% organic revenue growth in Q2 2025, driven by cardiopulmonary business momentum and solid neuromodulation performance across all regions. The company also delivered operating margin expansion and strong cash generation. The company announced key clinical milestones, including long-term results from the CORE-VNS study showing an 80% median seizure reduction at 36 months for focal onset seizures and 95% for focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizures in drug-resistant epilepsy patients. LivaNova initiated the process with CMS to seek national Medicare coverage for VNS therapy in treatment-resistant depression patients, supported by five peer-reviewed publications from the RECOVER study. The company's obstructive sleep apnea programme remains in FDA review, with management expressing confidence in its proximal hypoglossal nerve stimulation technology.
LivaNova reported 13% organic revenue growth in Q3 2025, driven by strong performance in cardiopulmonary and epilepsy businesses. The cardiopulmonary segment generated $203 million in revenue, up 16% year-over-year, with heart-lung machine revenue growing over 20%. The company saw accelerated placements of its Essenz heart-lung machines, with most installations in developed markets. LivaNova launched Essenz in China, its second-largest market, in August, with positive early feedback. However, expansion remains constrained by third-party component supply despite progressing manufacturing capacity plans. LivaNova unveiled a refreshed brand identity and new strategic framework, which will be detailed at its investor day on 12 November. The company is focusing on near-term performance whilst investing in core businesses and developing programmes for obstructive sleep apnoea.
LivaNova reported first-quarter results that exceeded Wall Street expectations, but shares fell more than 2% in premarket trading as investors reacted cautiously to guidance. The medical technology company posted adjusted earnings per share of $0.98, beating analyst estimates of $0.90, whilst revenue reached $362.3 million, surpassing the $346.06 million consensus. The company raised its full-year 2026 revenue growth guidance to 7.0%–8.0% on a constant-currency basis, up from 6.0%–7.0% previously. Adjusted diluted EPS guidance increased to $4.20–$4.30 from $4.15–$4.25. However, the $4.25 midpoint only marginally exceeded analyst consensus of $4.21. Revenue growth was driven by the Cardiopulmonary division, which rose 18.3% to $208.7 million, and Neuromodulation, which climbed 9.3% to $151.8 million.
