About the Company

Barnes & Noble Education

Manages campus bookstores and education services

BNED provides education-focused retail and distribution services to colleges and K-12 schools by operating campus bookstores under long-term contracts and selling or renting textbooks; it also runs MBS Textbook Exchange for used textbooks. Its flagship First Day Complete bundles all required course materials into tuition and delivers them by the first day of class in print or digital formats. The company differentiates itself with institution-centric contracts and bundled materials plus a student-success platform rather than consumer-focused bookstores. Its goal is to provide predictable, affordable learning resources for institutions while stabilizing revenue through diversified services and partnerships.
