Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • A bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience, an associate's degree with 4 years of related experience, or 6 years of related experience is required.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN networks is required.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices is required.
  • Proven experience with voice over Internet Protocol phone systems is required.
  • Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits is required.
  • An understanding of organizational goals and objectives is required.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws is required.
  • The ability to conduct research into networking issues and products is required.
  • The ability to present ideas in user-friendly language is required.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities are required.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment is required.
  • A strong customer service orientation is required.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is required.
  • The employee must be able to sit, use hands and arms, communicate verbally, and perform occasional stooping or kneeling.
  • The employee must be able to stand and walk frequently, lift or move up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds frequently, carry and climb ladders to 20 feet, and work in tight or confined spaces.
  • The employee must be able to operate scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and utility terrain vehicles when required.
Responsibilities
  • Follow safe work practices and company and client worksite safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with department heads to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.
  • Plan, design, and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including firewalls, routers, hubs, switches, servers, and other required hardware.
  • Develop and maintain network maintenance and service documentation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation for network administration, usage, configuration, and disaster recovery.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware in conjunction with existing security services.
  • Assess, plan, and communicate the impact of system changes on users, systems, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, consultants, and contractors to acquire and secure network products and services.
  • Research new and existing products, services, protocols, and standards to stay current with network and security best practices.
  • Oversee new and existing network and security hardware and software installations and upgrades.
  • Configure and monitor networks to ensure reliable connectivity for servers, workstations, telephony, closed-circuit television, access control, and audio/video systems.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Monitor networks and computer systems to improve network performance.
  • Perform network asset management, including component inventory, maintenance, updates to documentation, and technical specification information.
  • Identify opportunities to implement performance and process improvements aligned with business requirements.
  • Provide after-hours support for network infrastructure hardware and systems.
  • Participate in managing network security solutions.
  • Perform network and security audits of company systems.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to the Helpdesk team and assist as needed.
  • Travel as required by E2 Optics.
