Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of automotive technician experience is preferred.
  • Must provide own tools.
  • Must have a high school diploma and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must hold a valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to analyze and interpret data for problem solving.
  • Must have mechanical, technical, and troubleshooting ability.
  • Must have manual dexterity.
Responsibilities
  • Complete work outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately according to dealership and factory standards.
  • Operate dealership-owned and customer-owned vehicles safely.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicles accurately and reliably.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Save and tag parts from jobs covered by warranty or requested by the customer.
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine whether additional safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate promptly with the service advisor about additional work, unnecessary outlined work, or repairs that cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Document all work performed and recommendations on repair orders.
  • Road-test vehicles.
  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keep current with manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Use and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Inspect and test newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage, missing major components, and drivability functions.
  • Keep the shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain dealership-owned tools and manuals, and return them to their proper place and condition.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous-waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know requirements.
  • Handle hazardous materials, including motor oil, coolant, and cleaning agents, in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Access restricted or secure dealership areas.
  • Operate all tools and equipment safely.
  • Report safety issues immediately to management.
  • Complete other assigned tasks.

  • Three or more years of automotive technician experience.
