Delfleet metallic upgrade delivers consistent finishes: PPG. The latest Delfleet metallic technology from PPG is helping heavy vehicle operators achieve premium finishes with proven durability. Reading Time: 2 mins read The coating has been tested for UV stability, corrosion resistance and salt spray performance. Image: PPG. Paint has always played a vital role in protecting commercial heavy vehicles and equipment from Australia's harsh operating conditions. It also serves as a powerful reflection of a fleet's image, with operators increasingly seeking finishes that combine long-term durability with striking visual appeal. Responding to this shift, PPG has introduced F3621 Delfleet Medium Bright Metallic, the latest addition to its premium Delfleet 419M Ultra High Solids range. Replacing the previous F3609 Delfleet Bright Metallic, the new formulation has been developed to deliver a smoother application process while producing a cleaner, more consistent metallic finish. According to PPG Key Account Manager, Commercial Coatings, Chris Rovere, metallic direct gloss systems have become the benchmark across the commercial transport sector, placing greater emphasis on products that are both easy to apply and capable of delivering repeatable, high-quality results. Historically, achieving an even metallic appearance has been one of the biggest challenges for painters. The coarse silver particles used in traditional formulations could lead to mottling and patchiness, creating inconsistent finishes that required greater skill and rework. The new Medium Bright Metallic addresses these issues by improving metallic laydown and mottle control, allowing painters to achieve a uniform, high-gloss finish straight from the spray gun. Importantly, the application process remains unchanged. Instead, the innovation lies within the formulation itself, which creates a smoother, more refined metallic effect without altering the existing Delfleet colour range. The result closely resembles the appearance typically associated with a basecoat and clearcoat system, while retaining the efficiency of a single-layer direct gloss application. Like the broader Delfleet range, the new metallic coating has been engineered to withstand demanding Australian conditions. Extensive testing for UV stability, corrosion resistance and salt spray performance ensures the product delivers the durability expected across heavy transport, construction and agricultural applications. The enhanced finish also makes metallic coatings a more accessible option across a broader range of commercial assets. From prime movers and trailers to cranes, earthmoving equipment and agricultural machinery, operators can now achieve a premium metallic appearance without compromising the robust performance required in daily service. PPG introduces PPG ONE RANGE portfolio for onboard maintenance. PPG today announced the launch of the PPG ONE RANGE(TM) portfolio of five one-component marine coatings at the SMM 2026 maritime industry trade fair in Hamburg, Germany. Designed to simplify onboard fleet maintenance, the portfolio helps crews complete maintenance projects more efficiently with ready-to-use, one-component coating solutions. "Coatings maintenance is essential for extending vessel lifecycles, but preparation and application can be time-consuming for crews managing other operational responsibilities," said Ewout Bosman, PPG segment director, seastock, Protective and Marine Coatings. "With the PPG One Range portfolio, we focused on eliminating mixing requirements and simplifying application to help crews complete projects more efficiently." The portfolio's ready-to-use, one-component format supports a broad range of onboard maintenance applications with simplified product preparation, storage and handling and less waste. "The portfolio includes waterborne, alkyd and polyurethane technologies for both interior and exterior maintenance applications," said Kahina Ouchaou, PPG product manager, Protective and Marine Coatings. "Products in the portfolio incorporate technologies that support low volatile organic compound (VOC) compliance and low flame spread certification." PPG's commitment to simplifying onboard maintenance extends beyond coatings. At SMM, PPG will preview the PPG POWERPACK(TM) application tool, a portable, battery-powered system developed to improve application efficiency when used with the PPG One Range portfolio. "The PPG PowerPack tool allows crews to switch easily between roller and brush application using a single unit, reducing equipment changes and helping improve productivity," Bosman said. "Together, the PPG One Range portfolio and the PPG PowerPack tool demonstrate how we continue to innovate both inside and outside the can." PPG will showcase the PPG One Range portfolio and PPG PowerPack tool at SMM Hamburg, Sept. 1-4, in Hall B, stand 419.
