Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, although equivalent experience may offset this requirement.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to meet the company's Motor Vehicle Review policy.
  • The employee must obtain and maintain the required state commercial applicator certification.
  • The employee must be able to obtain and maintain an agricultural commercial driver's license.
  • The employee must be able to read, count, and write; use technology to complete documentation accurately; and understand shipping and applicator orders, tickets, product labels, safety data sheets, warning signs, and emergency procedures.
  • The employee must be familiar with crop chemicals, nutrients, farming practices, and crop characteristics.
  • The employee must be able to use technology to locate application sites accurately and read field maps.
  • The employee must be able to regularly lift more than 50 pounds, climb ladders, perform preventive maintenance, and complete other physical duties; walking, standing, lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling, feeling, and grasping are also required.
  • The employee must work required overtime as seasonal demands require.
Responsibilities
  • Apply dry fertilizer products and lime to customers' crops safely and efficiently.
  • Use supplied information and application-equipment technology to apply the correct products at the correct rates to the correct fields and customers.
  • Assist with mixing, loading, unloading, and transporting crop-protection and fertilizer products.
  • Follow all applicable laws, regulations, safety rules, personal protective equipment requirements, and company policies when handling and applying products.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships through product application and provide customers and the location manager with feedback about field conditions observed during application.
  • Inspect application equipment daily before field applications and after applications.
  • Maintain safety equipment in the applicator equipment and immediate work area in optimum condition.
  • Maintain accurate and current applicator and equipment logs.
  • Perform required equipment calibration and recommended preventive maintenance.
  • Rinse and wash down equipment in the field and at the location in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist team members with physical duties necessary to operate an agricultural location.
  • Assist with operational scouting, product transportation, and other customer services.
  • Follow Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Department of Transportation policies and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain company equipment used for agricultural applications.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic mechanical skills for daily equipment maintenance are preferred.
