- At least 2 years of experience as an ophthalmology technician is ideal.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ensure that all forms are complete and pertinent information has been recorded.
- Maintain outcome data.
- Perform auto refractions, topographical mapping, wavefront analysis, lensometry, pachymetry, and visual acuity testing.
- Evaluate and measure pupil size and responses, use a slit lamp microscope, operate an applanation tonometer, and properly instill eye drops.
- Understand all equipment and instruments used in the center, including equipment in the LASIK suite.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care and instructions.
- Assist in surgery by preparing the laser room with supplies and sterilized equipment.
- Stock medications and medical supplies by proactively planning the work week to complete required tasks.
- Call to request preoperative and postoperative visits for surgery patients.
- Order medical supplies.
- Keep up with regular and emergency maintenance of medical equipment.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
- A desire to provide an exceptional patient experience.
