The partnership between carsales and carbar to surface subscription options in the buyer journey is a clear indication that the subscription market is consolidating around two major players. This consolidation will likely lead to increased competition for traditional car sales, as buyers are presented with alternative ownership options. What it means for the market. The launch of carbar's Group Subscription model is a key factor in this consolidation, as it provides a new option for buyers to access vehicles without the long-term commitment of traditional ownership. As the market continues to evolve, dealers will need to adapt their sales strategies to remain competitive, with a focus on providing flexible ownership options to meet changing buyer needs. Impact on dealer sales. Dealers who fail to adapt to this shift in the market risk losing sales to subscription services, which could have a significant impact on their bottom line. Taking action. To remain competitive, dealers should consider partnering with subscription services or offering their own flexible ownership options, such as leasing or rental programs, to attract buyers who are looking for alternatives to traditional car ownership. Carsales launches Nexgate platform for dealers and OEMs.

Carsales launches Nexgate platform for dealers and OEMs. September 1, 2026 9:00 Australian automotive platform carsales has launched Nexgate, a new SaaS platform for dealers and OEM retail teams. The platform aims to streamline vehicle sourcing, inventory management, and customer engagement, integrating AI to enhance decision-making. The announcement: carsales today launched Nexgate, a new brand and next-generation SaaS platform for dealer and OEM retail teams and a clear signal that there's more to carsales than its marketplace. Enjoying Mumbrella? Sign up for our free daily newsletter. Built entirely in house, Nexgate arrives with a bold identity and modern platform experience, developed to signal a genuine step change in what carsales does for its customers: from a place to list vehicles, to the system dealerships and OEM retail teams run their businesses on. The brand was created around a simple idea: one connected platform. Nexgate brings vehicle sourcing, inventory management, pricing and customer engagement into a single view, with carsales' first-party market data and AI embedded across every layer, turning real buyer signals into recommended actions inside the workflow. carsales holds the largest audience in the auto category, every single month, grounding Nexgate in real-world signals vehicle retail businesses can't get anywhere else. "We wanted a name that was memorable and distinctly ours. One that matches the transformation we've undertaken, while still feeling like carsales," said Rafael Constantinou, EGM - Marketing, Content & Customer at carsales. "Nexgate is a reflection of how we want all of our customers - dealers, OEM partners and consumers - to experience carsales: simpler, more connected, and created around the way they actually work. Consumer expectations keep rising, and this gives our partners the technology to meet them." "For us, 'Next' is a commitment to keep moving, keep evolving and keep building beyond what was possible before. It's a proud moment and there's still a lot more to come." The platform is designed to work alongside the systems teams already use, replacing scattered information, reports and logins with one place to see what matters and act on it. "Time is one of the most valuable resources in any dealership," said Craig Fraser, Chief Executive Officer at carsales. "Teams have more information available to them than ever before, but turning that into confident decisions quickly isn't easy. Nexgate was built to help. It brings the insights and tools dealerships and OEMs rely on every day into one place, helping them see opportunities sooner and focus their time where it matters most. The goal isn't more information, it's knowing the next best move." Following a teaser campaign that began with the brand's reveal at the 2026 Australian Automotive Dealer Association (AADA) Convention and ran across out-of-home and dealer publications, Nexgate launches with digital and social activity, alongside direct-to-dealership activation landing in showrooms around the country. From launch, every dealer partner can explore the full Nexgate platform, with more capability set to roll out over the months ahead. Nexgate marks a significant investment in the technology that dealerships and OEMs rely on, as carsales continues to develop tools that help them operate more efficiently, respond faster to market conditions and be ready for the consumer of today and tomorrow. carsales adds Westpac finance to private listings.

carsales adds Westpac finance to private listings. carsales has partnered with Westpac on a referral pathway that puts finance in front of private buyers, with indicative repayment figures now appearing on private listings across carsales.com.au and RedBook. Buyers will see finance provided by Westpac, including an indicative weekly repayment and comparison rate, and can click through to the bank to explore their options. The classifieds giant says the move builds on its payments solution, which has facilitated more than $420 million in secure transactions, and the finance options already offered across dealer listings. carsales managing director Craig Fraser says finance is a big part of the buying decision, and the new pathway brings it into the private buying journey "rather than leaving it as a separate step". "At carsales, everything we do comes back to helping buyers find the right car with more confidence," he says. "carsales and Westpac share a genuine ambition to make life easier for consumers. By combining our strengths, we can help take some of the stress out of one of life's bigger purchase decisions and create a more seamless experience for buyers." Westpac chief executive of consumer Carolyn McCann says buying a car is an important life moment, and people want the process to feel simple. "We're pleased to work with carsales to make it easier for people to access finance earlier in the journey, helping them feel more informed and confident as they take the next step," she says.
