BRAC Bank goes live with Finastra and Conpend platform to digitise trade finance

BRAC Bank, one of Bangladesh's leading private commercial banks, has gone live with Finastra's Trade Innovation and Corporate Channels, along with Conpend's Trade AI solutions. Finastra announced the move in Singapore on October 21, 2026. The platform replaces fragmented processes with one digital system. It aims to increase straight-through processing, improve visibility across the trade finance lifecycle, and support compliance with ISO 20022 and Swift SR2026 requirements. Corporate clients get a single channel to start requests, approve transactions, and track progress in real time. "This implementation marks an important milestone in our trade finance transformation," said Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, the bank's managing director and chief executive officer. He said the bank aims to become Bangladesh's most preferred trade bank.

Finastra launches cloud-enabled SBLC solution to help U.S. Banks digitize standby letter of credit processing.

Finastra launches cloud-enabled SBLC solution to help U.S. Banks digitize standby letter of credit processing. * Banking * 19.10.2026 03:24 pm Today at Money 20/20 in Las Vegas, Finastra announced Finastra StandbyX, a cloud-enabled solution designed to help U.S. banks digitize and automate standby letter of credit (SBLC) processing while strengthening risk management and operational efficiency. SBLCs remain a widely used instrument across both trade and non-trade transactions in the U.S. While larger institutions typically manage SBLCs, alongside broader trade finance operations on platforms such as Trade Innovation, many regional and mid-sized banks continue to rely on manual or semi-manual processes. This can create operational inefficiencies, increase risk, and limit scalability. Purpose-built for SBLCs, Finastra StandbyX provides a streamlined SaaS deployment model that enables banks to modernize their operations without implementing a full trade finance platform. Designed for rapid implementation, the solution minimizes integration requirements and testing effort while offering a competitive total cost of ownership. The launch forms part of Finastra's ongoing investment in its trade solutions portfolio, helping financial institutions modernize operations, improve efficiency, unlock new growth opportunities, and deliver better customer and user experiences. How Finastra StandbyX helps banks in the U.S. * Provides proven standby letter of credit capabilities, through the SBLC module of Finastra's Trade Innovation platform, which is trusted by more than 150 banks globally, helping institutions digitize operations, support growth, and strengthen risk management. * Offers a SaaS deployment model that enables banks with low to moderate transaction volumes to implement quickly and begin realizing value sooner. * Reduces operational complexity through streamlined integration and testing requirements. * It is backed by Finastra's decades of experience supporting mission-critical banking systems for financial institutions worldwide. Expert perspective: Digital trade for more banks "Many U.S. banks have traditionally managed standby letters of credit through manual processes or workarounds," said Vinay Mendonca, Head of Trade and Supply Chain Finance and Corporate Channels at Finastra. While transaction volumes may be relatively low, the value of these instruments is often significant, making effective risk management essential. Finastra StandbyX gives banks access to proven SaaS technology that digitizes SBLC processing without the need to deploy a full trade finance platform. By making trade finance technology more accessible, SlideBy is helping a broader range of institutions improve operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and deliver a better customer experience. This is an exciting step in the evolution of its trade proposition." Finastra StandbyX builds on the proven capabilities of Trade Innovation, Finastra's trade finance platform that helps financial institutions automate workflows, manage risk, and improve operational efficiency. As part of Finastra's strategy to deliver modular, cloud-enabled and API-first solutions, StandbyX extends access to digital trade functionality for a wider range of banks.

Finastra launches StandbyX to digitise standby letters of credit for US banks

Finastra has launched StandbyX, a cloud-enabled tool that helps US banks digitise and automate standby letter of credit (SBLC) processing. The company announced it on October 19, 2026, at Money 20/20 in Las Vegas. Many regional and mid-sized US banks still handle SBLCs manually or semi-manually, which creates inefficiency, raises risk, and limits scalability. StandbyX offers a software-as-a-service model built only for SBLCs, so banks need not adopt a full trade finance platform. The tool uses the SBLC module of Finastra's Trade Innovation platform, which more than 150 banks globally use. It requires less integration and testing, and suits banks with low to moderate transaction volumes. "By making trade finance technology more accessible, we are helping a broader range of institutions improve operational efficiency," said Vinay Mendonca, head of trade and supply chain finance and corporate channels at Finastra.

Finastra launches Supply Chain Finance module for banks.

Finastra launches Supply Chain Finance module for banks. Finastra has introduced a Supply Chain Finance module and a Repair Recommendations capability, integrating trade, lending and payment-processing workflows via its Nexus API suite. What happened. Finastra has launched Supply Chain Finance (SCF), a new module that connects trade, lending and working-capital services for banks, alongside a separate "Repair Recommendations" capability aimed at streamlining payment processing. The financial services software provider unveiled both offerings this week as additions to its core banking technology stack. SCF is built to integrate with Finastra's existing Trade Innovation and Loan IQ platforms through the company's Nexus API suite, allowing banks to offer connected trade finance, lending and supply chain finance products from a single technology foundation rather than as disconnected systems. The aim, according to Finastra, is to help banks scale working capital programmes more quickly and support growth for their corporate and SME clients. The Repair Recommendations capability, announced alongside SCF, is designed to assist banks in resolving payment processing issues more efficiently, though Finastra has released fewer specifics on how the feature operates in practice. Why it matters. For banks, the real significance lies in integration rather than invention: Finastra is stitching together trade, lending and supply chain finance workflows that have traditionally sat in separate systems, often requiring manual reconciliation between them. By routing this through a common API layer, banks can in principle bring new working-capital products to market faster and with fewer operational handoffs. That matters for digital transformation leaders because working capital and payments are two areas where friction is felt directly by corporate clients - delayed financing decisions, repair queues on failed payments, and disconnected trade documentation all translate into slower cash flow for businesses on the other end. Consolidating these functions onto one platform is as much an operating-model change as a product launch, and it signals where core banking vendors see near-term demand: connected, API-driven infrastructure that banks can configure rather than build from scratch. The renascence take. It's tempting to read this as a routine vendor product update, but the more interesting story is what it reveals about how banks compete on working capital experience. Supply chain finance has historically been sold as a relationship product, but for the corporate treasurer on the receiving end, it behaves like a service experience - speed of approval, visibility into status, and how gracefully exceptions get handled all shape whether a bank is seen as a genuine partner or a bottleneck. A "repair recommendations" feature, even lightly detailed here, hints at a bigger shift: banks are starting to treat payment failures not as back-office exceptions to route around, but as friction points worth engineering away. The operators who get ahead won't be the ones with the most integrated core system - they'll be the ones who translate that integration into a visibly faster, more transparent experience for the business customer actually waiting on the money.
