- Registration by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or registry eligibility.

- Perform a variety of sonographic studies in various settings.
- Interpret physician instructions, explain ultrasound procedures to patients, change imaging parameters, and select options while operating ultrasound equipment.
- Perform ultrasound procedures at a technical level requiring minimal supervision.
- Assist the radiologist as necessary.
- Work with lead technologists to develop and maintain examination protocols.
- Enforce ultrasound safety for patients, visitors, and employees.
- Participate in safety-plan development and execution.
- Participate in drills to assess safety protocols.
- Operate and document high-level disinfection equipment.
- Follow through with patient examinations and orders in the Radiology Information System, electronic medical record, and electronic health record.
- Ensure orders are entered correctly.
- Enter appropriate charges based on completed examinations.
- Generate work orders for ultrasound equipment repairs and maintain current work-order status as necessary.
- Maintain a working relationship with the appropriate service engineer and/or physicist.
- Work with relevant physicians to create examination protocols.
- Partner with the Lead Ultrasound Technologist to ensure new orders are correctly built in the electronic medical record and existing orders are valid and correct.
- Accept responsibility for students or prospective students placed in the imaging department.
- Share experience and knowledge with future healthcare professionals.
- Two years of experience performing a variety of ultrasound studies, including vascular, obstetric, general, and breast studies.
- Two years of experience performing ultrasound procedures including biopsy, paracentesis, and clip placement.
- Experience with GE equipment.
