Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a consistent, easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience.
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained in and consistently delivers Target's guest experience commitments and operational standards.
  • Observe team members, provide feedback, hold them accountable and recognize strong guest experience behaviors.
  • Review guest, financial and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve results, align the team on execution and elevate the guest experience.
  • Lead daily and weekly General Merchandise workload, including receiving products, merchandising, signing, setting and updating sales floor displays, sampling, restocking shelves, organizing backrooms and processing price changes.
  • Educate team members on operational procedures, product accuracy, stock levels and sales floor maintenance, and explain their effects on inventory management, store profitability and product availability.
  • Assess General Merchandise reporting to identify process gaps and assist in developing plans for the direct leader's review and approval.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns.
  • Help establish goals and expectations and hold team members accountable under the direct leader's guidance.
  • Lead pick, pack and ship fulfillment work accurately when applicable, assess fulfillment reporting and assist in developing plans to address gaps.
  • Ensure products are in stock, available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor while prioritizing guest experience.
  • Collaborate with store teams and leaders, including the closing team, to identify priorities and keep the store guest-ready.
  • Relay Target communications about relevant trends, products and operational information during team connection moments.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team as directed by the direct leader.
  • Support team onboarding and learning, and help close skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions.
  • Identify team members for future leader positions and use growth development to build a departmental talent pool.
  • Support guest services, including backup cashier and digital fulfillment processes, while maintaining compliance with federal, state and local adult beverage laws.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity and create equitable experiences for guests and team members.
  • Follow Target policies, safety procedures and role-specific guidelines, including food safety and pricing, and report and correct hazards.
  • Lead and reinforce a safety culture by modeling safe behaviors, correcting hazards, holding the team accountable to safety expectations, assisting with incident response and reporting and investigating injuries accurately and promptly.
  • Model physical security processes to enhance the in-store security culture.
  • Support merchandise protection strategies across the store, including ordering, storage and application, according to best practices.
  • Follow safe and secure training and processes when serving as a key carrier.
  • Occasionally assume store-level leader-on-duty responsibilities during assigned shifts.
  • Address store emergency and compliance needs.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.
