Equinix has launched the Enhanced Performance Innovation Centers (EPIC), a global network of production-ready liquid cooling environments where enterprises can test, build, and deploy high-density AI infrastructure. The centres are live in Frankfurt, London, Osaka, Paris, and Sydney, with more due to open in 2027. Each centre sits inside a live Equinix data centre. Customers can trial liquid-cooled GPU and CPU platforms with hardware partners and run AI training and inference workloads under real-world conditions, with Equinix experts on hand to spot problems before production. "EPIC provides businesses with a place to test, validate and build with confidence before they commit to large-scale deployments," said Brian Stein, senior vice president of infrastructure products and services at Equinix. EPIC builds on the Co-Innovation Facility announced in 2022 and the Solution Validation Centers launched in 2024.
India can tap large data centre mkt as global AI adoption grows: Equinix MD. Equinix India MD Manoj Paul says AI adoption could drive data centre growth beyond traditional hubs, with the company aiming to expand its India capacity from 20 MW to 70 MW in 2-3 years. Manoj Paul, managing director, Equinix India India's next wave of data-centre growth could come from locations beyond traditional hubs such as Mumbai and Chennai, as the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) changes where companies build their infrastructure, said Manoj Paul, managing director (MD), Equinix India. "If you look at India, the places you hear about are Visakhapatnam and Jamnagar, which are not your traditional data-centre hubs. These are unlikely places because when you talk about enterprises and their data, you need to be closer to them and their end customers. With AI, that picture is changing," Paul told Business Standard in an exclusive interaction here in the city. With AI, whether the data centre is used for inference or training, it can be far from the city, like a factory, he said, adding that the only requirements were stable power, land, and access to adequately trained human resources. Equinix, one of the world's largest digital infrastructure companies, with a presence in 36 countries, has data centres in Mumbai and Chennai. The company currently has roughly 20 megawatt (Mw) of data-centre capacity in India, and aims to take it to 70 Mw over the next two-three years, Paul said. While the availability of power and other resources has improved by leaps and bounds, he said, there are still cost issues when it comes to securing land for data centres. In some of the bigger cities such as Bangalore, Chennai, and Mumbai, land costs are comparable to those in global cities, which means most data centres being set up have to be built vertically rather than laid out horizontally, Paul said. "The quality of power, however, has improved by leaps and bounds over the last five-ten years, both in terms of continuous supply and stability of voltage. It is comparable to the capacity of China and Singapore," he said. The debate on power, water, and other resource consumption by data centres should, however, also be seen in light of increasing use of internet-based mobility services, entertainment platforms, dining and shopping facilities, and other essential applications, Paul said. There also needs to be some more customer education on where and how much power, water or other resources are used by data centres, and how they compare to the other sectors, he said. "You have applications of banks, which allow you to transact in seconds. Or your taxi services and entertainment platforms. Is it possible or even feasible for all of them to set up their own data centres? We work with them to make their services more efficient and cut down on their latency for customers," Paul said.
Equinix finalizing incident report after fuel spill at NY2 data center in New Jersey. Lotz is a journalist with over a decade of experience covering business and technology, with a focus on how innovation is shaping the African continent. His interests range from data centers and energy to finance and emerging technology. Through sharp analysis and experience across multiple fields, Lotz is keen to showcase how Africa is becoming a major contender in the digital world. October 12, 2026 at 4:31 PM GMT+8 Equinix, a digital infrastructure and data center provider, has told w.media that it is finalizing a full incident response report in an effort to prevent a recurrence of a fuel leak that occurred at its NY2 data center facility in Secaucus, New Jersey, in September 2026. Equinix said it detected a leak from a storage tank outside the facility on September 11, 2026. It added that the leak was stopped and that it immediately engaged Clean Harbors, an environmental and industrial services provider, to begin remediation efforts. The company also notified the Secaucus Fire Department, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), and other agencies. "Our investigation found that a mechanical failure of two valves used as part of a routine filtration process for stored fuel caused the leak. We regret that this occurred and the concern it has caused the community. We are finalizing a full incident response report to prevent recurrence," Equinix said in a statement to w.media. The company added that it has been a part of the Secaucus community since 2001 and is committed to rectifying the incident and maintaining the trust of its neighbors and local officials. Last week w.media reported that Congresswoman Nellie Pou, who represents the Ninth District of New Jersey, put pressure on NJDEP to provide answers about the fuel spill that had allegedly contaminated local waterways. According to Pou, this incident was the largest data center fuel spill on record in the state of New Jersey with as much as 5,500 gallons of fuel spilled during the incident. "I appreciate that NJDEP is working to investigate and address the spill. But NJDEP must provide a clear account of exactly what happened and what is being done to prevent another spill to ensure transparency and accountability," the congresswoman said. NJDEP was given until October 9, 2026, to respond, but at the time of publication neither Pou's office nor NJDEP had publicly confirmed that the deadline was met or that a report was submitted.
South Africa expansion might change the case for investing in Equinix stock. October 08, 2026 * Equinix recently presented at the Yotta 2026 conference in Las Vegas, where Senior Director of Global Design Greg Metcalf outlined the group's approach to data center design and deployment. * The company is also active in South Africa's expanding colocation market, where rising cloud, AI and digitalization demand is drawing capital alongside government incentives. * We will now examine how Equinix's investment narrative is shaped by its South African data center push and its focus on AI ready infrastructure. Seize the AI infrastructure momentum around Equinix and scan a curated field of potential beneficiaries with the 91 AI infrastructure stocks. Equinix investment narrative recap. For you to own Equinix, you need to believe that its large build program can keep converting AI-heavy demand into long-term recurring cash flows without compressing returns. The Yotta 2026 presentation supports that view, since it underlines an ongoing design focus on dense, AI-ready sites in power-constrained markets. As a near-term catalyst, execution on that 600 MW development pipeline and progress toward 1 GW under production look more important than this single conference appearance. The key risk remains on the supply side. Grid access, skilled construction labor and permitting all have the potential to slow builds or squeeze project economics. That matters for a business carrying meaningful debt and a rich 66.4x P/E multiple. If construction and financing costs increase more than expected, the spread between target returns in the low to mid-20% range and the cost of capital could narrow. The Yotta 2026 session helps link Equinix's broader development story with the push into South Africa's colocation market. Management is talking publicly about AI-oriented design at the same time the region is drawing capital on the back of cloud demand, government support and enterprise digitalization. For investors, that ties directly to the plan to deploy US$5 billion to US$7 billion per year in new projects from 2027 to 2029. That spending plan is a core catalyst because it is intended to turn Equinix's roughly 3 GW of designed power into higher recurring revenue and funds from operations over time. The same build cycle carries clear execution risks. Power constraints, local opposition or higher build costs in markets such as South Africa could limit how much of those targeted low to mid-20% cash-on-cash returns ultimately appear in earnings and cash flow. Equinix's current analyst story points to revenues of US$13.5b and earnings of US$2.3b by 2029, based on an assumed 10.8% yearly revenue growth rate and an increase in earnings of about US$0.8b from US$1.5b today. Uncover why Equinix's fair value indicates a 20% potential upside to its current price that could narrow quickly. Exploring other perspectives. The three fair value estimates from the Simply Wall St Community span roughly US$1,233 to US$1,638 per share, so retail opinions on Equinix already stretch from cautious to optimistic. Before the Yotta 2026 update and South Africa build plans are even factored in, you are seeing how far views can diverge. Supply constraints, political friction and the sheer scale of that US$5b to US$7b annual development program could all shift how these private investors rethink revenue durability and cash generation. Use this spread as a prompt to test your own thesis and explore several alternative viewpoints before deciding where you sit in that range. Explore 2 other Equinix fair value estimates, including one that suggests as much as 59% upside from the current price. Reach your own conclusion. Disagree with existing narratives?
