Requirements
  • A Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from a Commission on Dental Accreditation-accredited dental program or an equivalent foreign degree.
  • A current Mississippi dental license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days after hire.
  • Proven experience working in the dental field.
  • Demonstrated skill in traditional classroom teaching and online learning environments.
  • Ability to interpret and use student learning outcome data to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of current trends in the dental field and a commitment to remaining informed of advancements in the field.
  • Proficiency in word processing programs and internet applications.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver course content according to approved syllabi.
  • Teach assigned classes as scheduled and ensure excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Regularly assess student academic achievement and adjust teaching techniques based on feedback and best practices in education.
  • Participate in the creation, evaluation, and improvement of the department curriculum based on student learning outcomes and current industry trends.
  • Submit attendance, grades, and other documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Attend department meetings and contribute to program goals, curriculum review, and discussions on improving teaching methods and student outcomes.
  • Stay current with trends in the dental field and teaching methodologies by attending relevant professional development activities.
  • Participate in college and community service, including serving on committees and contributing to the broader mission of the School of Dentistry.
  • Exhibit professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to fostering a learning environment that promotes student growth and academic success.
  • Report to the Department Chair and communicate regularly on goals and objectives.
  • Deliver care to patients within the School of Dentistry’s University Dentists faculty practice, ensuring high-quality treatment and maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in the didactic and/or clinical instruction of dental students.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations.
