About the job

Requirements
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years at Staff or Principal level.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Delivery experience in regulated or compliance-bound environments such as CMMC, FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.
  • Experience with Azure or Azure Government Cloud.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems by decomposing monolithic enterprise applications into services.
  • Hands-on delivery under CMMC, FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 control frameworks, including evidence and audit preparation.
  • Experience with supply chain security, including SBOM generation, artifact signing, and provenance attestation such as SLSA or equivalent.
  • Experience enforcing policy as code in delivery pipelines using OPA, Conftest, or an equivalent tool.
  • Experience with observability instrumentation using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or Azure Monitor.
  • Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
  • Database engineering depth across relational and non-relational stores.
  • Expert proficiency in a modern backend language such as C#, .NET, Java, Python, Go, or Node.js, and a modern front-end framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Demonstrated ownership of services in production, including accountability for production failures.
  • Automated testing experience across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, including hands-on Playwright experience and enforcement of coverage standards.
  • Working fluency with containerized deployment on Kubernetes and infrastructure defined as code.
  • Fluency with Git-based delivery workflows in which changes reach production through automated pipelines.
  • Demonstrated production delivery using agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot Workspace, including judgment about when agent-generated code requires human architectural intervention.
  • Ability to define review and verification standards for AI-generated code using automated test coverage, provenance, and review attestation sufficient for audit requirements.
  • Secure software development lifecycle practice, including static application security testing, dynamic application security testing, dependency and container scanning, secret detection, and remediation of findings at the source.
  • Experience building services that produce audit-grade logging and automated compliance evidence.
  • Ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Turn ambiguous business problems into technical direction and produce architecture and interface designs for other engineers.
  • Make and defend technology selection and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Design and build front-end applications and the services, application programming interfaces, and data layers behind them.
  • Write production code to a standard that raises the bar for other engineers.
  • Own the automated testing approach for systems and enforce unit-test coverage as a merge gate.
  • Build integration test suites against real service contracts.
  • Author and maintain functional and end-to-end browser tests in Playwright and keep them reliable and performant.
  • Package services as containers and author deployment configuration for workloads.
  • Promote changes through the GitOps pipeline and modify Terraform and Kubernetes manifests describing services.
  • Use coding agents to decompose problems, direct multi-step implementation, and review generated output.
  • Establish guardrails, review standards, and verification practices for safe use of agent-generated code.
  • Write code that passes automated security, dependency, secret, and container scanning on every commit.
  • Design services so authentication, authorization, encryption, and data handling meet control requirements by construction.
  • Instrument services to emit structured, tamper-evident audit logs covering access, privileged actions, and data handling.
  • Capture test results, scan results, approvals, and deployment records as build-time artifacts for compliance evidence.
  • Instrument services, define health signals, participate in incident response, and drive permanent remediation.
  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, lead design reviews, and influence engineering direction across teams without formal authority.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with CMMC Level 2, including code provenance, change control, and access logging.
