Requirements
  • Previous hands-on experience originating, underwriting, brokering, or closing SBA loans or traditional commercial financing is required.
  • Previous professional experience in business lending is required.
  • Experience with one or more of the following is required: SBA loan origination or underwriting, SBA 7(a) or 504 lending, commercial banking, business lines of credit, conventional business loans, commercial loan brokerage, equipment financing, commercial real estate lending, or business loan underwriting.
  • Understanding of the commercial lending process and the financial documentation required to structure and close business loans.
  • Ability to speak comfortably with business owners, chief financial officers, accountants, attorneys, underwriters, and bankers.
  • Ability to assess a business's financial profile, determine suitable financing options, structure the opportunity correctly, and guide the borrower through the process.
Responsibilities
  • Manage business financing opportunities from initial consultation through closing.
  • Consult with business owners regarding their financing needs.
  • Review business and personal tax returns.
  • Review profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, and debt schedules.
  • Understand cash flow and debt-service requirements.
  • Determine which financing products a business may qualify for.
  • Package complete loan files for lenders.
  • Work directly with banks, SBA lenders, and other lending partners.
  • Manage documentation and underwriting requests.
  • Follow transactions through approval and closing.
  • Maintain and grow a pipeline of business borrowers.
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients and lending partners.
