Requirements
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Must be eligible for specialist certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Must have coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association or proof of alternative coverage.
Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric care to patients over the age of 19 who need psychiatric care but do not need overnight admission to an acute care unit.
  • Participate in program development.
  • Offer consultations to other physicians and rural clinics.
  • Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities.
  • Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provide care and coordination of community-based care and secondary- and tertiary-level health care.
  • Operate within the bylaws, rules, and regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Maintain professional responsibility and quality of practice under the Zone Psychiatry Department Head.
