Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • The candidate must be able to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • The candidate must be able to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • The candidate must be able to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • The candidate must be able to effectively plan, delegate, and supervise the work of others.
  • The candidate must be able to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
  • The candidate must be proficient in computer software, including Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information necessary for financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts.
  • Orient, train, evaluate, and monitor registration staff using positive reinforcement and recognition.
  • Ensure that staff members adhere to all established policies and procedures.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and scheduling to accommodate daily expected volumes.
  • Communicate patient flow issues to appropriate managing staff.
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance information and edit information as necessary.
  • Explain consent for treatment, financial liability, and HIPAA to patients.
  • Initiate performance management processes to address ongoing performance issues.
  • Make every effort to collect outstanding patient account balances, run end-of-day reports, ensure accurate accounting of collected funds, and deposit funds.
  • Identify and recommend process changes to improve overall performance and efficiency of the registration process.
  • Establish and continuously assess the effectiveness of internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policies and procedures.
  • Monitor staff compliance with key business initiatives and motivate the team to achieve established key performance indicators, including patient satisfaction, copay and previous-balance collections, registration processing time, and denials.
  • Maintain harmonious and collaborative working relationships with healthcare team members.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
