Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an accredited sonography program with an emphasis in vascular technology is required.
  • Two years of experience performing noninvasive vascular studies are required, or six months of vascular technologist externship experience completed at Keck Medicine of USC.
  • The ability to work effectively with physicians, staff, and patients is required.
  • The ability to function independently and as a member of a team is required.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through ARDMS, Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), or Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography (RT/(VS)) certification is required; if not held at hire, it must be obtained within one year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Fire Life Safety Training from the City of Los Angeles is required within Los Angeles city limits; if not held at hire, it must be obtained within 30 days and renewed before expiration.
Responsibilities
  • Perform noninvasive vascular studies and associated paperwork during a normal eight-hour shift while maintaining quality and service.
  • Maintain technical quality according to semi-annual chart review surveys.
  • Perform studies within the employee’s validated technical competency level.
  • Provide technical support for noninvasive vascular diagnostic studies involving pediatric through geriatric patients.
  • Work with vascular surgeons, urologists, and neurologists during procedures and assist with interpreting outcomes of special procedures.
  • Work independently with ongoing and periodic review through evaluation of results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
