Requirements
  • The candidate must have at least 4 years of experience writing performant GPU kernels using CUDA, ROCm, Triton, or a production-grade equivalent.
  • The candidate must have hardware-level fluency in memory hierarchy, occupancy, register pressure, tensor cores, and warp scheduling.
  • The candidate must be fluent in profiling with Nsight, ncu, or comparable tools and measure performance before making changes.
  • The candidate must have a track record of shipping kernel-level optimizations that moved a measurable metric in a real system.
  • The candidate must have strong systems expertise and understand how kernels fit within larger frameworks and how integration choices affect end-to-end performance.
  • The candidate must be comfortable reading framework-level Python and C++ around kernels.
Responsibilities
  • Write and optimize GPU kernels using CUDA, ROCm, Triton, or similar technologies for training and inference workloads, including attention variants, mixture-of-experts layers, custom activations, and communication primitives.
  • Profile real workloads with hardware counters and translate findings into specific kernel-level optimizations.
  • Co-design kernels with research teams and participate in both kernel and algorithm changes when needed.
  • Integrate optimized kernels into training and serving stacks, benchmark before and after, and verify end-to-end performance improvements.
  • Maintain kernel quality as hardware, frameworks, and workloads change.
  • Share kernel-level expertise across the team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Open-source contributions to kernel libraries, compilers, or machine learning frameworks.
  • Experience with multiple accelerator architectures, including different GPU families, TPUs, or custom ASICs, preferably AMD GPUs.
  • Familiarity with collective communication primitives such as NCCL or an equivalent.
  • Compiler or runtime background.
