Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics, is required.
  • Successful completion of a National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences-accredited Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technologist program is required, or an MLT American Society for Clinical Pathology certification and a bachelor's degree with two years of full-time laboratory experience in an accredited laboratory.
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, or eligibility for certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology, National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel, American Medical Technologies, or Department of Health, Education and Welfare is required.
  • Certification must be received within 180 days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct a variety of tests on patient samples, including blood, body fluids, cells, and tissue, to detect the presence or absence of health conditions.
  • Use biomedical instrumentation, microscopes, and computers to study patient samples.
  • Provide data to physicians and healthcare providers for use in diagnosing and treating disease.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in an accredited laboratory is preferred.
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist certification is preferred.
