About the job

Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture, including several years as an enterprise or solution architect owning complex, high-volume transactional systems end to end.
  • Deep cloud-native architecture experience on AWS, including containers, serverless, event-driven patterns, API management, relational and NoSQL data stores, and associated security and cost controls.
  • Strong data and analytics architecture knowledge, including canonical and semantic models, warehouse and lakehouse patterns such as Snowflake, operational-versus-analytical data separation, integration and adapter patterns, and working across data and engineering organizations.
  • A track record of modernizing legacy systems in production using approaches such as strangler and incremental migration to avoid big-bang risk.
  • Security-and-compliance-by-design instincts, ideally in a regulated industry such as lending, fintech, banking, or insurance.
  • Ability to build architecture collaboratively, earn trust across product and engineering, and communicate clearly with executives and engineers.
  • A pragmatic, outcome-first mindset, including sequencing work to business value, making decisions when evidence is sufficient, and documenting the rationale.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end architecture by producing and maintaining a current, AI-crawlable map of the lending lifecycle from lead through decisioning, funding, servicing, and collections, including the systems, data stores, integrations, and owners, as the organization's trusted reference.
  • Define the target state and sequence the modernization roadmap, including core-platform runtime uplift, decoupling decisioning from the core, moving toward a modern lending core, and environments and infrastructure-as-code that support safe releases; sequence initiatives against the product roadmap and business outcomes.
  • Establish Kapitus-owned canonical data models for core decisioning inputs, including credit bureau, cash flow, and know-your-business data, and a vendor-adapter layer that gives data providers a stable internal contract and enables failover and champion-challenger testing.
  • Integrate the data and artificial intelligence architecture with the data platform, analytics and reporting products, cross-team decisioning-data pipeline, and machine-learning and model-deployment lifecycle.
  • Maintain the operational-versus-analytical data split, directing real-time data to the transactional store and analytical data to the warehouse; define ownership boundaries and contracts across data, engineering, and product, and maintain the domain's place in the overall architecture as it evolves.
  • Lead integration and event-driven architecture by shaping application programming interface and eventing standards, including REST, webhooks, and event buses; define partner application programming interface contracts and middleware connecting Salesforce, the core platform, AWS services, and third parties.
  • Design security and resilience into solutions, including authentication, secrets management, least privilege, audit logging, disaster recovery, high availability, and observability, in a regulated-lending context.
  • Establish architecture governance through architecture principles, decision records with trade-off analysis, a design-review gate, and build-versus-buy and total-cost-of-ownership practices.
  • Bring product, engineering, data and artificial intelligence, and security stakeholders into architecture decisions through joint, rolling planning; translate technical choices into business terms for executives and clear guidance for engineers.
  • Govern responsible artificial intelligence enablement by shaping guardrails and standards for AI-assisted development, model deployment, and model governance in partnership with data and security organizations.
  • Mentor engineering managers and technical leads and grow architectural thinking across the group.
  • Create a trusted, shared end-to-end architecture map and system-and-ownership inventory that the organization uses, including during incidents.
  • Deliver an approved target-state architecture and sequenced modernization roadmap tied to the product plan and funding case.
  • Establish an adopted canonical data model and vendor-adapter standard on the decisioning path, with a clear route to vendor failover.
  • Operate an architecture practice with principles, decision records, and a design-review gate valued by engineers.
  • Integrate the data and AI domain into enterprise architecture, with data-to-engineering seams, ownership, and contracts defined and agreed with the Chief Data and AI Officer's team.
  • Reduce architecture-driven incidents and rework and accelerate safe delivery of committed initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
  • Salesforce platform architecture at scale and experience with a modern lending or core-banking platform such as Mambu.
  • Runtime and framework modernization, such as a PHP major-version uplift, and microservice decomposition of a monolith.
  • Credit-decisioning ecosystems, including bureau and data vendors such as Experian, LexisNexis, Plaid, and cash-flow providers, as well as model deployment and model-risk governance.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tooling and guardrails and with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu.
  • Experience using a recognized architecture framework such as TOGAF.
