Hormel Foods' 5.9% dividend yield: Is the stock too cheap to ignore?

Hormel Foods is drawing attention from income investors with its nearly 6% dividend yield and relatively low valuation. Trading at around $20 per share with a forward P/E of 12.85x, the food company offers a 5.9% yield and has increased its dividend for 60 consecutive years, earning dividend aristocrat status. The company's recent performance shows mixed results. Third-quarter sales fell 2.4% to $2.96 billion, with retail volumes down 9% and international volumes declining 11%. However, its Foodservice segment achieved its 12th straight quarter of organic sales growth. Adjusted earnings per share rose 6% to $0.37. Operating cash flow improved significantly to $768.8 million in the first nine months of fiscal 2026, up from $522.3 million year-over-year. However, the dividend consumed approximately 88% of free cash flow during this period, representing a tight coverage ratio that warrants monitoring. Management expects adjusted EPS growth of 6-10% for fiscal 2026.
