How Coleman turned a fake AI product into a marketing win.

How Coleman turned a fake AI product into a marketing win. The outdoor brand created a social and ecommerce campaign around a lazy river. 13 hours ago ADWEEK House: Advertising HQ brings the people shaping advertising, commerce, and media together for four days of unscripted conversations and after-hours connections. Meet Detroit News in Midtown, Oct. 5-8. In June, an AI-generated advertisement circulated on social media for a 200-foot-long pool system designed to look like a lazy river. The product was allegedly made by Coleman and cost $999 at Costco, according to the post. Unfortunately for water park enthusiasts, the product was fake. Responding to these types of AI-generated content is a growing issue for brand marketers. At ADWEEK's Brandweek event, Jimmy Jia, global VP of outdoor and beverage at Newell Brands - which includes Coleman, Graco, and Sharpie - laid out how the brand responded to the lazy river stunt. The post caused Jia's team to carefully consider how to tell consumers that the product was fake. Crock-Pot, Valspar collab paints slow cookers in six kitchen colorways.

Crock-Pot, Valspar collab paints slow cookers in six kitchen colorways. Newell Brands and paint manufacturer Valspar are collaborating on a new collection of Crock-Pot slow cookers in six new colorways curated from Valspar paint palettes. Noting "color drenching" as growing home design trend, Newell Brands reported each of six new Crock-Pot Brand Design Series slow cooker colorways is paired with a "hero" Valspar paint shade and three complementary colors designed to work together across walls, cabinetry, trim and accents. The companies are presenting the collaboration as the Crock-Pot Brand x Valspar Color-Drenched Kitchen Collection. "The kitchen has evolved into an extension of our living space, often acting as a space for gathering and entertaining rather than simply preparing meals," said Sue Kim, director of color marketing at Valspar. "The expressive palettes of the collection paired with the Crock-Pot Brand Design Series slow cookers create a welcoming environment that feels cohesive and joyful for both everyday rituals and special occasions." "With the Crock-Pot Brand Design Series, we wanted to reimagine what a slow cooker can look like in today's kitchen - not only a hardworking appliance, but a beautifully designed piece that feels at home on the countertop," said Mallory Fuller-Guzman, senior manager, design, color, material and finish at Newell Brands. "Drawing on our consumer and trend insights, our... team developed a contemporary color palette designed to complement today's interiors. Now, our partnership with Valspar is helping extend and validate that established color story within the broader home environment, inspiring consumers to create spaces that feel personal and reflective of the way they live." Crock-Pot Brand x Valspar Color-Drenched Kitchen Collection color pairings: * Purple Potato - paired with Purple Fury, White Wool, Titanium Man and Tomcat from Valspar. * Morning Haze - paired with Cottage Door (The 2027 Valspar Color of the Year), Silver Dusk, Blue Kiss and Magnet Dapple from Valspar. * Light Stone - paired with Voyage, Blue Skylights, Snowed In and Dream Weaver from Valspar. * Ocean Fog - paired with Renew Blue, Secluded Garden, Du Jour and Green Trellis from Valspar. * Desert Sage - paired with Seaside Fog, Low Tide, Lemon Edge and Homey Cream from Valspar. * Chai Cream - paired with Stone Manor, Sunswept Sand, Bistro White and Groundbreaking from Valspar. A Crock-Pot Brand x Valspar Kitchen Refresh Sweepstakes is set for September 21 through September 29, 2026, offering a chance to win Crock-Pot Brand Design Series slow cooker in the colorway of choice, a Lowe's gift card and $1,000 toward a kitchen refresh.
